Stop autoplaying videos on the Yahoo News home page
I see a lot of complaints about videos autoplaying when news articles are opened. That's annoying because it is unnessarily chewing up bandwidth. Recently when I first go to the Yahoo news home page, a video autoplays on the upper right side of the screen. I find this extremely annoying. I've used Yahoo News as my primary online news source for at least 12 years and now I think I need to look at less intrusive alternatives.

I agree. You can't stop them and I have to mute my computer, wait for the ad and then proceed to video I actually am interested in.

There is a free Ad-block you can get. I've got it and I don't get any kind of adds at all. I had the same issue and someone told me about Ad-block. Google it and download it. It's free.

I understand that ads are part of the process- however to disable the controls for sound, and 'play' is really irritating. I don't want to hear them, even though I know I must see them. This situation has caused me to not visit the page and will soon cause me to leave the site altogether.

Same here....annoying as all get out.....I also will open a news clip/video and a commercial will run at the same time that the news clip runs resulting in not being able to understand either one.

Menu icon no longer visible. Guess Yahoo just loves to make users angry. Oh, wait a minute there is a marketing idiot involved that was asleep during the "user experience" part of the lecture.
Autoplay can be turned off.
===================
Mouse over the control bar at the bottom of the video.
Click the Menu icon.
Click Preferences.
Click Off. -

The advertisements on the right pop up while I'm trying to reply to an email message.
The ads totally interfere with my typing the message.
Is there a way to shut these off when I'm working with my outgoing email messages??? -
