[Public Leagues] Default settings feedback
General feedback for default league settings in Public Free and Public Prize Leagues.

For playoff fairness, Yahoo default settings should either or both:
1) Cap started players for each playoff week at 40-45 starts, so that "streaming to win" isn't a valid strategy. Losing because the other team had 5+ more starters in a playoff week is stupid.
2) Allow more than 4 waiver adds per week only if dropping Out or IL players. Again, losing because the other team was healthy and you got hit a rash of real/fake injuries and real/fake rests during the playoffs is stupid.
Please make one or both of these changes or something very similar for next year - the NBA and Fantasy Hoops is really becoming unfun, especially in March when real and fantasy playoffs become so critical.
Thank you!

Yahoo Prize Leagues are rigged! Their employees are entering prize leagues and changing injury statuses for 2 hours to benefit their teams.

YahooSports just changed Aaron Gordon's status back to GTD, but not before the other player swapped out a player that was no longer injured into his lineup, while Gordon remains in their injury spot. This guy definitely works for YahooSports.

How is yahoo determining injury status? It's never consistent. Aaron Gordon played on 2/20 and is probable to play tomorrow (2/22). Yet, he just had his injury status changed to injured.
I swear that sometimes it feels like some of these diamond status players playing in yahoo prize leagues are actually yahoosports employees that are able to change status's for personal benefit. Ive had this kinda of thing happen so many times and it's always against a diamond status player that has a ton of experience in a high prize league. Feels rigged...

Arbitrarily ignoring your own very well established positional eligibility rules in such a way that it bleeds into private leagues (giving positions to Util only players) is game breaking for existing leagues.

Removing league size option for public default leagues is an inexplicable decision. You already support it and a 10 team league is too small to be enjoyable for many players including myself.

This new point system by default is not enjoyable to me. If anything we should have had an option to default to category for public leagues.

IL+ instead of IL needs to be the default for public leagues next year to make fantasy NBA playable again. The amount of missed games due to injury management, illness, rest, etc. is worse than ever, and not having IL+ and having to wait for players to be out 7+ days to be able to move to IL makes it impossible to fairly complete and regularly dictates close matchups. Maximum pickup settings per week already prevent any abuse of adding free agents, so I don't see why you wouldn't want to make this change to improve your product.

Where did the nightly schedules go? You can't see who's playing without having to click on the opponent and that's a mess to look at. Is this a default setting that needs to be changed now?

I'd like to see them get rid of some of the roster spots and adopt something more like the NBA reality:
1 position each for: PG, SG, SF, PF, C, G/F, PF/C, Util, and 6X Bench & 3X IL.
Then allow players listed as "out" to be placed on the IL along with the other IL eligble players. Reduce the number of starters on fantasy rosters. It makes the teams feel more like an actual NBA game rotation with a bench mob.If Yahoo made the Start/Sit decision require more thought, it would be far more fun to play.

Fantasy Basketball Public Prize leagues need to have IL+. Why even introduce IL+ if you don't use it? 3 IL slots are useless because Yahoo takes forever to give players the injured tag. Incredibly frustrating

Reflect the modern NBA by getting rid of the 2 centers requirement, and require 2 point guards instead. Every team needs a backup point guard. You can do this by using SG/SF "wing" and PF/C "big" flex positions, instead of G and F. It would look like this: 2 PG, 1 SG, 1 SF, 1 SG/SF, 1 PF, 1 C, 1 PF/C, 2 UTIL, 3 BN, 3 IL.

Terrible that you changed the standard to points over categories. I was blindsided by this because it has been categories forever. I'm now stuck in a league that I don't even want to play.
-
Dietrich Motto commented
I like "category" leagues, but the default is now "points", which I've never even played before. I would have tried "points" in a couple of leagues to see how it works, but mostly stuck with "category", which I like and know how to play.

Yeah, it's me that's the commissioner and there's no way for me to be biased. The trades are voted on like public league settings, I have no powers beyond creating the league. It has deliberately been set to the classic 12 team 9 cat ruleset, and everyone can view the settings themselves to verify that I have no powers to be impartial. Also, as James mentions, we are seeking to run these leagues annually with many of the same active players returning, so trying to cheat in any way would be hugely counter-productive (and pathetic, obviously!)
-
James Norton commented
I can vouch for the leagues posted by Simon below. I have been playing fantasy with him for a few years now and the league settings are exactly the same as the old default 9 cat roto settings. There is also scope to re-run these leagues every year in the future if people want to continue. 5 spots and 1 spot left - please join / share to active managers only to ensure competitiveness

Sorry, but those can't be trusted because the commissioners are never impartial. I would really like to play, but it looks like this site is out for me. Good luck to you all.
