Rosters - Position eligibility requests 2025-26
Position eligibility requests for the 2025-26 season.
We will continue evaluating players for new positions going forward and make updates where appropriate.
Full list of updated players for the 25/26 season: https://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/hockey/playerchanges?type=pos
As of 10/4/23, we added the option for Commissioners to award position eligibility to players who haven't earned it by Yahoo Fantasy's standards yet. Keep in mind, this tool will only allow commissioners to add positions, not edit or remove them, and you won't be able to assign Forwards or Defensemen with Goalie eligibility and vice versa. Commissioners can add new positions using the steps here: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/position-eligibility-fantasy-hockey-sln7057.html

Evgeni Malkin's player history notes have him gaining LW eligibility on 8/17, yet he doesn't currently show that in public leagues. Please update.

The position eligibility should be updated by yourselves instead of putting it in the hands of commissioners.
Luckily I’m in a group of good people, but I can easily see that being problematic in leagues with shady commissioners.
It’s not even a bandaid solution if it can potentially cause more harm than good and IMO quite lazy in comparison to other fantasy platforms.

Buchnevich has played LW and RW in the past and also has LW/RW eligibility on Fantrax
Monahan is being utilized on 1st line RW in Montreal and 1st PP C. so should receive RW eligibility -

Gabriel Vilardi on Winnipeg should be a C,RW as he's played the majority of his career on the wing including last season. Right now he is just listed as a C.

Please look at adding RW eligibility for Sammy Blais. He played both LW and RW plenty last season and is playing the Right side in preseason. Thanks

Player position eligibility should be dynamic and not cumulative. On Yahoo, on our fantasy team roster page under Research->Depth Chart is a listing of the player's current position and it is surprisingly and consistently accurate. Yahoo should simply use *that* to determine a player's position and not ever allow dual or triple eligibility. Eliminate dual/triple eligibility permanently, that's what I'd do.
