   My “predictions” about future flooding and earthquake became my concern not because of their “almost certainly to happen” as Krisnel would believe, but these predictions already reached Prof. Moreno for his comment. The professor, a PhD holder in Physics, once talked to me regarding his conversation with Krisnel. It was after his Physics class when Krisnel saw him. Initially, they talked about Krisnel planning to have LOA (Leave of Absence) on that trimestral term with the fire incident. Narrating all that I could to my father about my relationship with Krisnel in the library and what might have happened to her instead, he said that the database systems of DLSU-M not allowing cross-enrollment may be part of God’s plan. My fellow ID 105 “blockmates” of first year batch were wondering before the fire incident why Krisnel was considering to file for LOA. Prof. Moreno and I were told by Krisnel the reason, at least to us of that moment: once allowed to cross-enroll for the Basic Organic Chemistry sequence (General Chemistry 1 & 2 followed by Organic Chemistry 1 & 2), Krisnel intended to file LOA for that trimestral term which in reality became her last term because of fire. When Prof. Moreno heard what happened to Krisnel with that fire, he thought that Krisnel was not enrolled due to LOA. Krisnel told me that some Behavioral Sciences Dept. faculty members were willing to give her special classes after LOA but the reason she gave them for LOA was the financial aspect as an example, not her reason given to me and Prof. Moreno that it’s for preparing to study Chemistry topics which she found difficult in high school. It is my perceived “delaying tactics” by DLSU-M about my undergraduate studies even today that would always remind me of what might have happened to Krisnel instead. Prof. Moreno once invited me and Krisnel to shift from College of Liberal Arts to College of Science, but Krisnel replied to him that I would have to “do the math” for her by being the only one who would shift to his College (of Science) because we planned to write a book that I titled for humor “Preparing for the Big One beginning 2021 – a five-year plan for a safe 2026 and beyond… earthquake preparedness not a matter of chance but of choice… so choose to buy this book now!!!” It was this title that Krisnel commented – with laughing, a lot of it – would likely categorize our book in the Fiction section diminishing the value of her research because of the book’s front cover. I told her that our ‘target’ prospective buyers of the book would be about one-sixth because Catholic Church membership worldwide only convinced about one-sixth that it’s not teaching Fiction but Faith, its fullness not foolishness. She told me that our fund to publish the book would be based on my ‘great flooding’ prediction (in Metro Manila and areas surrounding it) accurately “happening on days in 2009”, a prediction she was willing to put at risk her reputation – as she was actually looking for someone and actually claimed to have found our “connection” for urgent government response through fellow Lasallians of DLSU-M – because Prof. Moreno told her that its probability can be considered “reasonable in theory”. Krisnel “flexed” to me and Prof. Moreno “the kindness” in her belief that the ‘standard’ of how both of us would become “overachievers in life”: this “connection” together with “prediction” being realized, with “risks” together with “deaths” being minimized. Regarding this, I told Krisnel and Prof. Moreno during our “futuristic discourse” what I was telling my parents and anyone asking about my career plan: it is for the “end” of all, with Statistics for the end of game, Law for the end of contract, and Medicine for the end of life….

   Comparisons of different indices of low muscle mass in relationship with cardiometabolic disorder

   Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the most valid index among various indices of low muscle mass in assessing cardiometabolic risks in a Korean population. Appendicular lean mass index (ALMI, kg/m2), fat mass index (FMI, kg/m2), FMI-adjusted ALMI, ratio of ALM to weight index, ratio of ALM to body mass index and ratio of ALM to truncal fat index were measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in 17,870 participants from 2008 to 2011. We adopted all the aforementioned indices of low muscle mass expressed as ***- and age-specific standard deviation scores (Z-scores). Low muscle mass for age was defined as Z-score <−1. The prevalence of low muscle mass was approximately 16% across all indices. The receiver operating characteristic curve in metabolic syndrome showed that the ALM to truncal fat index was 0.74 in male and 0.69 in female, indicating that ALM to truncal fat index was the best discrimination index for metabolic syndrome. This study showed that ALM to truncal fat index could be a useful indicator for screening cardiometabolic risk factors, particularly in normal or overweight Asian population.

   Participants (a total of 1,467 young adults as college students) were instructed to wear light clothing (for example, a t-shirt and shorts) for the physical exam. Once the subjects were barefoot and in their underwear, their body weight (kg) was measured using an electric scale (Model Tanita BC-420-MA Tokyo, Japan) with a range of 0 to 200 kg and with an accuracy of within 100 g.

   (2016) Validity of muscle-to-fat ratio as a predictor of adult metabolic syndrome.
   Abstract:
   [Purpose] This study was aimed at determining the validity of the muscle-to-fat ratio as an indicator for the prevention and management of metabolic syndrome by establishing an optimal cutoff value. [Results] The receiver operating characteristic curve for the muscle-to-fat ratio, which represents the diagnostic power for predicting metabolic syndrome, was 0.713 in men and 0.721 in women. The optimal cutoff value for the prediction and diagnosis of metabolic syndrome was 3.09 kg/kg in men and 1.83 kg/kg in women. Intergroup differences based on the muscle-to-fat ratio indicated that the low-ratio group had higher values for all indicators of metabolic syndrome than the high-ratio group. [Conclusion] The muscle-to-fat ratio can be used as an indicator for the prediction and diagnosis of metabolic syndrome, and early prevention and management of metabolic syndrome can help in improving public health.

   The values of Lean Mass for whole-body (55.41±7.64 kg), Upper Limbs (6.80±1.21 kg), trunk (25.88±4.14 kg) and Lower Limbs (19.13±2.50 kg) all presented moderate to high and significant correlations to Bone Mineral Content (BMC) and Bone Mineral Density (BMD), but regional values for Upper Limbs and Lower Limbs coefficients were larger than those for whole-body.

   The risk of all cause mortality was relatively flat until around 21 kg of predicted fat mass and then started to increase rapidly afterwards (P for non-linearity <0.001). The average BMI (Body Mass Index) for men with 21 kg of predicted fat mass was 25. Above 21 kg, the hazard ratio per standard deviation higher predicted fat mass was 1.22 (1.18 to 1.26). Regarding the strong U shaped relation between predicted lean body mass and all cause mortality, the plot showed a substantial reduction of the risk within the lower range of predicted lean body mass, which reached the lowest risk around 56 kg and then increased thereafter (P for non-linearity <0.001). Below 56 kg, the hazard ratio per standard deviation higher predicted lean body mass was 0.87 (0.82 to 0.92).

   I had a parish involvement required for my first year Catholic high school. I met Patrick who was a leader of altar servers. When I was in college, I went to LRT-Anonas train station in the morning. I saw Patrick in front of me. We were young male adults. During our conversation as we climbed the stairs, he told me to walk very slowly. He informed me that his congenital heart disease was similar to my father’s case: having dead cells without holes needed for surgical treatment. Within that year, I visited the wake of Patrick as I was informed by fellow altar servers in high school that he might have overworked by only minimally causing his eventual death. When my father and I talked about his death, my father mentioned how my mother would have preferred that he walked faster while with her. He argued while laughing that he might have died earlier in life since he believed that my mother’s “instinct” about health is mostly inaccurate because she relied only on perception. He told me that the several instances when I had blood stain of my underwear in 2016 would only have merit for her if I would “portray” someone who was expressing pain. I remember when I insisted to be medically supervised as I could only barely walk feeling intolerable headache and body pain. My mother and her two sisters told me that I was simply a vain person not worthy of visiting a hospital, only to be convinced that I was ill after I vomited. Prior to vomiting, the three of them were telling my father and cousin-guardian not to believe my imagination because of vanity as a teenager. I was later confined at the ICU of World Citi Medical Center because of Dengue diagnosis, thinking what would have happened if I did not vomit. When I was still in college, I visited Dr. Anunciacion, MD of World Citi Medical Center because of frequent urination. The physician told me to monitor my urinalysis as frequent as symptoms may occur even if I would not be able to avail of insurance in any form because a disease may only be slowly progressing and my immune system has a limit in response. He referred me to urologist for consult but my frequent urination already controlled to a feeling of normalcy. Today I am realizing the absence of my father. Before he died, he told someone while using mobile phone almost beside me that I was already an accomplished person including both the physical and mental aspects. Then he opted to move inside a room because I might hear their conversation. I heard him telling the other that he was already entrusting me to my mother’s care only and not any other person except for my health, arguing that it may be on how my mother and her sisters were nurtured (raised) by parents socially that their insensitivity on health may be very risky. Citing as an example was himself who would not be perceived as having a congenital heart disease that was very sensitive to movements. Prof. Dickerson Moreno, PhD specializing in Medical Physics even told me that based on medical imaging, though he did not mention how he accessed the medical information of my father, I had to thank God that my father was still alive in his 50+ years of age able to walk though he warned me to keep him walking for a total of not more than 30 minutes per day. I narrated this to my father because Prof. Moreno was familiar with his mother (my grandmother) in college. He told me that Prof. Moreno only confirmed that his transition from basketball to karate (limited him to brown belt because of congenital heart disease) as a teenager was for his survival in order to “walk” further in *life.

11. drop box difficulties

    Dear yahoo

    i have an drop box which was linked to my 'old classic' yahoo email address. Yahoo asked us if we wanted to update our email to the new version - i did and discovered I couldn't attach documents from my drop box account - despite all the unhelpful and incorrect advice you have given on your yahoo community website about how to resolve this issue so I have remained with the old classic yahoo email until recently Yahoo stated that I had to update my email with the new version. I have tried sending attachments again via drop box and again I am not able to link my drop box account with my new updated yahoo email account. I have researched into this again and I have now linked the apps in my drop box account with my yahoo email but i still can't send attachments via drop box. Can you advise? is the problem with yourself Yahoo? Do I need to shut down my drop box account and then open up another one?
