Mail in my online mailbox keeps downloading old items to my computer

Every day, all the mail in my online inbox is downloaded to my computer email inbox. Not just the new emails, but every item there. Please fix!

    11/18/18 and 11/19.18 - Two days in a row of downloading old email - accompanied by downloading obvious spam. Why can't this be fixed?

    This happens 2 or 3 times covering about three days, before they stop downloading,

    10/23/18 It just did it again. Does anyone know how to fix this without emptying the online mailbox?
