get it to work today - disappearing read email in Outlook and....
Sorry if this is the wrong place but I can't find a means to supply feedback to Yahoo though I have already to Microsoft. Below is a copy of what I have sent to Microsoft. It started on Tuesday the 22nd..
"Outlook 2016 and ymail - mail downloaded read then disappears from client and server.
I'm having some serious problems with my Ymail email. After downloading and reading them they disappear from my inbox in Outlook AND via webmail...
I use IMAP, no filtering, no mail forwarding, only one mail rule in Outlook and it is not to blame, there is nothing in my trash and none of the missing emails have turned up in any archive folders
This has been happening for the last two days and is making things impossible. I have no idea how but it seems only to affect my ymail account.
I have requested a download of usage and activity from Yahoo to see if it will shed any light and I've requested a restoration of my email for the last two days from Yahoo.
Could this be some flavour of Outlook mailbox corruption and would rebuilding my ymail mailbox/account information maybe resolve the issue?
(IMAP folder synchronisation will only make things worse until the problem is resolved but I am not sure if it is possible to prevent Outlook from changing mail folders on the yahoo server - synchronisation is bi-directional....so I guess I should avoid accessing my ymail account via Outlook???)
Please can anyone help...

Hello Jon,
To help us identify the cause of the issue and then find the proper resolution for it, please provide the following information:
What is the exact build and version of the Outlook app you're using? To check, please click this link.
Were there any changes made to your account/device before the issue started to happen?
Does the issue occur specifically on the incoming messages only?
Meanwhile, please remove your Yahoo account on Outlook and observe if the incoming emails will disappear using the webmail. Through this we can isolate if the problem was with Outlook or was with the server itself.
To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.

-MS Office Professional Plus 2016
Outlook version 1909 (build 12026.20334)
no changes made prior to issue that I can think of
yes the issue seems to relate to the mail client. When accessing mail via web browser, the yahoo account seems unaffected.
Yahoo have restored my last two days of mail, (22nd and 23rd) but some messages are not 'openable'. I have attempted not to run Outlook while online and think I've elected for manually entered passwords for each account, and emails are no longer disappearing.
To fix the issue I've disabled the VBA add in, and macro's were already disabled.. I also downloaded mfcmapi and searched for any rules of the class "ipm.rule version2.message" but could not find any for each inbox of every configured mail account, - even though I have one rule setup on my Outlook client, (which is definitely not to blame - I read online that client and server hidden rules should be listed as ipm.rule version2.message under the class column). I've also run a few "Outlook /cleanXXX" commands from the RUN window, (/cleanfolders, /cleanrules, /cleansharing, /cleanserverrules), hoping that one of these might remove the issue from my mail client, (assuming it is Outlook causing problems).
Currently I am still not using Outlook though I will need to soon. Outlook is much nicer (usually), to use than a web mail interface.
There is one other longer term issue that has happened since I started using Outlook again at home: Drafts folder in Outlook will not display all saved draft mail, though total unread draft mail may increase. They are there in the draft folder on my mail server, but the more recent are not visible locally through Outlook. This, I guess is an unrelated issue but also one I would like to know more about...

UPDATE......HELP!!! so many things now going wrong.
OK...so I imported my mail from yahoo to a fresh new gmail account and set it up to send and receive email as my yahoo account and then configured Outlook with my new gmail account as the default...AND NOW...mail folders are not sync'ing properly between Outlook and gmail but that's OK because folders are not sync'ing between yahoo and gmail anyway.. the drafts folder varies between all three and inboxes differ between gmail and yahoo, (I think Outlook is suffering from the disappearing email issue as before).
Outlook has changed the received dates/times for the new gmail account that now contains most of my yahoo mail but not all, and somehow through imap synchronisation with the gmail account, has mixed together at least three folders, (inbox, sent items and another of my making), and dumped them in the Junk folder (~3400 emails), in a weird date/time order that relates, I guess to when they were downloaded by Outlook, (or perhaps imported to Gmail though gmail web mail displays them with the correct time), AND THEN on top of that, as I am looking at the junk mail folder in Outlook, they start going down in number!!!
There are no rules setup on either server or in Outlook and before using Outlook again, I removed the details for my yahoo account, configured it with my new gmail account details, then had to run a repair on MS Office via Programs and Features just to get Outlook to accept the new gmail account details and login to the gmail server.
I'm a bit lost now and do not know where I am going wrong but I'm starting to think that Outlook needs more than a repair....perhaps a total re-install and my OS a good scrub/clean, (I did scan it last Tuesday with Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials - nothing) and as for the importing of yahoo mail to gmail, I think this is also a factor in the received times and current folder issues, though not the Drafts folder as that was happening previously...."
...In summary yahoo web mail seems OK for me but importing to a gmail account scrambles the folders and changes received dates, and using MS Outlook to access yahoo mail seems to cause mail to disappear from client and server...hence I've restored my yahoo mail twice in the last week.
So here's my idea...HEY YAHOO! Have you any advice or support to give to those who normally access their mail through Yahoo???
The issue should be fixed. If you’ve verified that your account is working outside of the app and you’ve checked the other possible solutions, then there’s something wrong with the app you’re using. The app manufacturer may have additional troubleshooting steps to try. Alternatively, you can use a different third-party email app.
