Bring back email aliases
When I first signed up for a Yahoo email address, 13+ years ago, I used a rather opaque name that didn't reflect my actual name. Later, I added an alias that looks more like my real name, and I've used the alias since. More of my correspondents know the alias than the real account name. I've been using the alias in Mac Mail and my iPhone for years rather than the "official" account name.
Apparently Yahoo dropped support for aliases, even for those of us with paid accounts. And today my alias was deleted. I spent at least an hour trying to reconnect. I tried resetting the password and it went through the two-factor dance (so obviously Yahoo still understood that that alias was tied to my account), but then would get a response that I'd entered an invalid address.
And, even more confusing, the email that said the alias had been removed said that if I didn't remove it, here's a link for how to add an alias, and that took me to a disabled page.
So why, oh why, did Yahoo drop this useful feature? And why was the user experience when it was done so horrid?
