Fredrick Douglas article issues
I thought of this entire article myself a few weeks ago and I tried to get my my view posted elsewhere, but now I got to respond to this. As a Native American (Cherokee) I find Juneteenth to be absurdly ridiculous. Why would we as a People want to celebrate a tragedy? There were no slaves here before the ships came with the Blacks from Africa, its sad that slavery existed here, its sad slavery lasted so long and it's sad it took so long to come up with this terrible idea of June 19th to try and 'smooth' things over. Fredrick Douglas only was able to speak from his perspective, well what about the perspective of the people that were here first and actually had our land stolen? Pretty easy to forget about us...Fredrick and his views are awful when you consider he wasn't here first, nor were the people that brought them here. I say everyone but natives go to Antarctica...
