I agree, there seems to be a strong liberal bent, perhaps not so much in the news articles themselves but definitely in the op-ed type pieces that Yahoo promotes on its news feed.

Too much content from unabashedly liberal sites like TakePart, and lately my feed has been blown up by Mic especially. You get a few counterpoints like Daily Caller, but its nowhere near balanced. And then you have Yahoo News' original op-ed content like Matt Bai and Katie Couric with no real conservative counterpoint on staff.

I get that there's a slight liberal bias in the media at large, and that's going to show on Yahoo's news feed since its just basically an aggregator. But I wish the op-ed stuff was clearly differentiated, it used to come with an "op-ed" flag at least ...maybe even have a separate tab for an op-ed piece feed, separate from the feed of actual reporting.

This has gotten markedly worse of late...I used to be able to tolerate and manage them, but they've gotten untenably intrusive the last few weeks. Here's my specific complaints right now:

    1) You can pause them, but in a minute or two they'll refresh and autoplay themselves again. They used to stay paused if you paused them.

    2) You can get multiple video ads in the sidebar simultaneously, where they used to only appear in the topmost slot. This multiplies the other problems exponentially.

    3) Sometimes "mute" doesn't do anything, I have to manually mute my computer speakers.

    4) Most damning, whatever code is used to embed them is HORRIBLE BUSH LEAGUE code! Whenever a new video tries to auto-load and auto-play, my whole browser will freeze for several seconds...and with multiple video ads on the sidebar its like whack-a-mole trying to find them and keep them all paused. Even when they're just running, not loading, my browser slows down so much that there's a 1-2 second lag when I'm typing comments between when I type and when it appears on screen.

Suggested fixes: Prevent video ads from loading anywhere but the topmost sidebar slot. Prevent them from refreshing until they reach the end of their duration. And simplify the code so its not so memory-intensive.
