This feature would allow commissioners to implement 2 week long playoff matchups for their league.

I say do away with byes. There is nothing like a darkhorse taking down a 1st place team.

Just do it

This would make Yahoo Fantasy Hockey even better, two week playoffs needed ASAP and without the two last weeks that every contender doesn't put the star players on the ice.

This should be added asap!!!

Allow for customizable playoff options, including:
A) the number of teams that make playoffs (even or odd number, allow for byes or no byes)
B) a consolation bracket, even for leagues that allow 8 playoff teams (remaining four teams consolation bracket, as it currently doesn’t allow you to do so in a 12 team format with 8 making playoffs)
C) one or two week playoff matchup options allowed to be customized for each playoff round individually (quarters, semis and finals).
D) any of the above or any other customizable playoff options -

Two week playoffs would be crucial to have. Will this be coming for next season?
I would love the ability to choose per round of playoffs how many weeks you want. Example: quarters 1, semis 1, finals 2.

We switched from ESPN this year, but will go back next year if there is not the option of having 2 week long playoff matches. You can get stuck with players who only play 1 or 2 games during the most important weeks of the year. Please fix this!

If this doesn't get added in 2021 - we're out. been running keeper league since 2006. No reason this is not yet an option.

Fantrax does it too. 3 years later, nothing with yahoo
-
Blair Courchene commented
Agreed - Fantrax, ESPN run custom schedules. Keep up yahoo
-
Blair Courchene commented
Yea. This NEEDS to be updated. Been asking for this for years. Fantrax, ESPN both allow custom playoff.
When I set playoff schedule on Yahoo it gives me an option of about 6-8 different weeks to use. Why can't I merge those weeks into rounds. 8 team league could run 3 rounds of 2 week playoffs.
Especially with this year, we had teams that just got dinged by covid/opponent having covid so their schedule was whacked and while they were the best team all year, they are out in the semi's because of one week playoff - 18 games less played than opponent. 2 week matchups needed.

Time to add customized playoff schedules. If I am able to select a 8 team playoff from 6 different weeks, why can we not then have 2 week playoff rounds. Rd 1 - Week 1-2, Rd 2 - Wk 3-4, Rd 3 Wk 5-6.

we should have the option of two week matchups for both the regular season and playoffs because the NHL schedule is so irregular that some teams enter a one week matchup with an inherent insurmountable advantage. Two week matchups in both regular season and playoffs helps smooth that out

Hi! An inherent flaw to fantasy hockey is that in any given week, one team might have as many as 15 or 20 more man games because the NHL schedule is so irregular. I would like to suggest that Yahoo give us the option of having two week matchups for both the regular season and the playoffs. I think that would help smooth out the discrepancy in man games in any given matchup. Thanks!

My entire league (forever Yahoo) wishes for more significance to playoff rounds by doubling their length. I'm looking into pitching FanTrax to my league next season because they offer so much more customization. As commissioner, I should be able to end the regular season a number of weeks sooner in order to elongate the playoffs.

If this isn’t added this season, I’m taking my league to Fantraxx. Period.
I’ve been objectively the best team in my league 3 years running (by fairly significant margins) but I’ve gotten punched in the mouth by Lady Luck in the playoffs every year.
With a 12-team league, I don’t mind a one-week matchup for round 1 when 1st and 2nd place have their bye, but one week for the semifinals and finals is nothing short of ridiculous.
I should have the option for longer playoff matchups and still end a week before the NHL regular season.

I’ve won the Presidents Trophy by a pretty significant margin 3 years running, but every year I’ve gotten snared by Lady Luck in a one-week playoff matchup. There are only a few options for constructing the length of each playoff matchup, and I’ve been forced to choose between including the last week of the regular season to get at least a two-week final (when many all-stars are being rested) and omitting the final week (with all rounds being a standard one-week matchup).
Obviously, any NHL team (or fantasy team) can beat any other team in any given matchup, thus the NHL playoffs are a best-of-7 series to increase the likelihood that the better team wins. In my 12 team league (6 make the playoffs) I didn’t think it was asking for very much to have:-Round 1: 1st and 2nd place get a bye, and the other 4 teams play a one-week matchup.
-Semifinals and finals are two weeks each.
-Season ends 1 week before the NHL regular season.(Or just more customizability for playoff matchup length in general)

The current standard tiebreaker (Higher seed wins) in Head-to-Head is terrible and is literally the worst tiebreaker option anyone could think of. It makes it so that the tiebreaker has nothing to do with the matchup against the actual opponent that week. Any other option would be better.
I don't mind the other option, which is your record against that opponent in the regular season, so switching to that as the standard would be an improvement. But I think there are other options that would be even better, here are some:
In standard leagues, we score Goals and Assists, so how about making a tiebreaker Points, so that it's a "separate" stat.
Or overall score for that week, so a sum of all the counted stats (Goals, Assists, +/-, Shots, Hits, Wins, and Shutouts).
Or anything else, really. Higher seed wins is the worst tiebreaker imaginable.
