It isn't a Keeper issue, that would be a Can't Cut List issue. Keepers are players that teams keep from their roster from the end of the previous season and are assigned by the commissioner pre draft, filling the designated picks in the draft and preventing other teams from selecting them. Players will have the Keeper designation by their name throughout the season. It does not in any way prevent them from being dropped from the roster by the manager. What you need to prevent managers from dropping a player is to have them on the Can't Cut List. The Commissioner needs the ability to add players to the Can't Cut List to prevent a manager from dropping them.

It can be done now as long as the Commissioner and managers all cooperate. It just takes more effort. We run a Guillotine League on Yahoo without them creating the method for doing it. The Commissioner makes the cut on Tuesday and empties the roster of the loser except for a couple mandatory minimum players that he picks from the very bottom ranked players and parks them in bench slots.

Bad Idea. If I am strong at RB but weak at WR, I carry more WRs on my bench to play based off the matchup. If I need a RB for a bye week, what happens? Do I have to drop my great RB for a middling RB to use for one week?

Bring back the medals and League Pick Em. When you are having a bad year in the Win Loss Record, it still gave you a reason to stay engaged. Regarding a comment below about redirecting to enhance other aspects, I have only seen a decline in your product: The medals are gone, the message board has been replaced by a league chat which you can't create a poll where others in the league can just vote. the match-up recaps are a joke, get the 2nd highest point total in your league and get graded a D+ because you went against the highest scoring team, etc, etc

Why fewer IR. I always max IR slots as a commissioner. Why make a manager have to choose between keeping a player on their roster they can't use now but want when he comes back to have a player they can use now. Having a player end up on IR is bad luck. The problem shouldn't be compounded by a commissioner that forces managers to make the choice. If you drop the player to pick up someone they can use now, there is no guarantee they get that player back when they return to action.
I would be in favor of having the ability to add IR or Bench slots if they want. Adding more active slots during the season adds an advantage to some and disadvantage to others. Managers have made moves based on the current settings. If they traded two 2nd tier for a top tier, their bench is weaker. Adding a new position not currently in use is to the disadvantage to the manabers that have used the waiver wire most recently.

If Yahoo updated and maintained the list based on defined criteria, it would be fine. But you can be stuck with a player you can't cut for a few weeks when he obviously isn't performing anywhere close to his past play because Yahoo fails to remove him from the list based on the prior years of performance and projections based on that, not what is currently happening. Also, they made it a joke with my hockey league during the pandemic where you could cut anyone. We didn't realize it until an a-hole decided to dump his team so his friend could win the league by picking up his best players as they were dropped. We were using the Yahoo Can't Cut lList but they had it where you could drop a top 10 player that was projected to be a top 10 player pre-season.

Bring back the Message Boards. My leagues have some guys that have been in it for 20+ years. I am retired from the military and the league started with a group of us that worked together at the time. The core few have stayed together the whole time while some left and we would find replacements with other people we currently worked with at the time. We are all older now and have used the message board for years. We have used it to stay in contact, update what is going on in our lives and talk about the sport. You killed the message board in baseball this year and the chat didn't get used. The kids may like the chat better because they do everything for the season on their smart phones. Us older guys that have done it for decades now, still do most of it on our computers at home and want our message board back.
It should be doable. They have IR+ in Fantasy Hockey for players that are DTD and aren't put on the teams IR list to cover the minor injuries that will cause a player to miss time, but not enough to put them on IR. It would be nice to have in Baseball too to help managers when they have a player that will miss a couple of games due to a minor injury or those pesky family leave periods.
