visually it is very difficult to distinguish between the read and unread emails. Needs more contrast

When I open an email and then delete it or go back to the inbox the inbox continues to return to the top instead of highlighting or going back to where I left off. This old email worked this way. This is frustrating that it keeps returning to the top as I have to navigate and find where I left off and visually it is hard to see in the new layout.
