Unread v. Read Contrast
The contrast between read and unread emails in this new yahoo is unrecognizable. There needs to be greater contrast or a different color to differentiate between the two. I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW LOOK!

I strongly dislike the new mailbox. Read vs unread emails look nearly identical, and there is no theme customization to change this. Maybe the text should change more noticeably, or the read email boxes show in a slightly different shade (darker/lighter/ different color?). It's tedious to review in its current state.

Can you add a slight coloration to the read messages (like gmail does) so its easier to see the difference between read and unread messages. Just the text bold vs not bold is hard to see in both light and dark mode.

With the new Yahoo appearance, when using dark mode, unread emails no longer stand out as clearly. They have a small purple dot and a slightly lighter text that's barely noticeable. It would be very nice to have the text stand out more with it's colour or boldness, and have the background colour for the email subject and preview line be darker or lighter. As it was on the older Yahoo appearance, which helped to clearly highlight unread emails.

The new email doesn't allow me to read all unread emails from all folders in one window. I have to select each individual folder to see what's unread and to open them. In the old (better) version, I could click on the "unread" folder and it would show all unread emails from all folders. Now, "unread" only shows them unread emails from the folder that I'm currently in. This really sucks and doesn't work for me.

Change it back - new format is terrible.

In the old mail, the whole message title was in bold if unread. Now, a small purple dot appears next to an unread message - it is much much less clear. I think unread emails are still bold, but the difference is so subtle...
Make it more obvious and clearer to navigate -

Hard to tell whether an email has been read or not at a glance. The purple marker is too small, the font weights are too similar and they mostly use the same colour. I want to go back to the old design because it was clearer in this regard

Hard to differentiate Unread Emails from Read emails, might help to make the font of Unread emails a bit more Bold than they currently are

Your new interface absolutely sucks. Give me back my old yahoo email.

Unread vs read emails don't look as different as they used to. The bold isn't bolding. Also selected emails (to be mass deleted) are not highlighted nor do they look any different from an email that isn't chosen, save for the check box. This new look is not an improvement. :(

Not liking the new look of the email at all. My biggest complaint is that there is too little contrast between read, and unread messages.
Also not liking the lack of any color choices. I want my old appearance back.

The new (Oct 2026) Mail redesign does not provide ample contrast in the Inbox between read and unread messages. The new design only uses bold to distinguish between read and unread messages and this is not sufficient under good UX design. In addition to the bold, PLEASE bring back a light gray background shading to distinguish the unread messages in the inbox. Thanks.

The bold is almost identical to the non-bold, and I cannot tell what is unread vs read. Horrible UX

I do not like the new interface, it's harsh on the eyes, but more importantly it's near impossible to differentiate READ vs UNREAD email. The little dots do not help much.

The previous version of Yahoo Mail made it very easy to differentiate between emails that have been read and unread. The current/new version makes this extremely difficult. The only difference is a small purple dot on the left hand side. Please go back to bolding the unread and not bolding the read.
Thank you

visually it is very difficult to distinguish between the read and unread emails. Needs more contrast

There needs to be more contrast between read and unread messages. Just having the unread messages in bold is not enough. The entire line needs to be shaded to provide adequate distinction.
Also there should be an option for a tighter viewing. I don't need so much wasted space between emails. A more compact setting would be appreciated.
In essence, the older version was better. I've been with Yahoo since 1995 and all your redesigns have been miserable, except may one of them. Seriously. Gmail has looked the same for ages. Stop the redesigning. It's maddening.

The current text makes it very difficult to tell unread messages from those already read. PLEASE correct that!

Your new layout makes it almost impossible to tell unread from read emails in the inbox. Please make it easier to differentiate them.
