commentedI have had a few comments rejected, never a successful appeal, yet I still have literally no idea how they violated the guidelines. I can't correct the issue if I don't know what it is.
Is it a specific word or phrase? I see wanton vitriol posted all the time, but mine routinely get bumped. It's very discouraging. An error occurred while saving the comment Hugh Patterson

commentedPlease provide some insight as to why a particular comment gets rejected. I have had a couple. I typically disagree, but I can usually figure out what "probably" was the issue. I recently had one kicked back, and I have no idea what the issue was.
If you don't tell us what was objectionable, we have to guess, and we will probably guess wrong. Hugh Patterson

commentedThe inconsistency is a problem for me. Some stories allow comments, others do not.
Lately, when I come across a story that looks somewhat interesting, I immediately scan to the bottom to see if it allows comments. If not, I generally don't bother reading any further.
Knowing that no matter how relevant my input might be is irrelevant does not sit well with me. Hugh Patterson

I occasionally, like today, have comments rejected for violation of the community guidelines. Unfortunately, I rarely know what aspect of the guidelines I violated. Sometimes I don't even know which comment it was. In some cases I can figure that it's the use of a specific word, usually out of context, but for others, I haven't a clue.
If you're going to reject/censor input, at least tell us why.
