[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Sounds like Fantrax is the answer here

We have used Yahoo for over 20 years and I also use it for other leages (football, basketball, hockey). Having the message boards is critical for the league as it is one of the easiest ways to communicate with everyone and is accessible from the main league page. We use it to post messages on trades, prizes, historical records. It just wouldn't be the same if it goes away permanently. We definitely will have to explore other options if that is the case.

Definitely used the message board for all league wide communications. Not everyone uses the mobile chat function or checks their emails, but the message board was a great feature for feedback from the managers. It was also seen by all other managers in the league. I don't think removing this without a suitable replacement is a smart move, and now hurts league communications. I would think it should be brought back, and removed next season with a reasonable replacement not what we have right now.

Do I hear the sound of crickets from Yahoo? No response except doubling down on their own idiotic decision.
We moved to Fantrax 3 days ago and I am loving it over there. Free and it has a Message Board and a full screen (laptop) advanced chat both. Imagine that, Yahoo. Oranges and apples both.

This is awful. Why did you guys NOT give us time to prepare for this? WTF are you thinking? Or were you at all? Before you implement a reduction in service at Yahoo, don't you give your guys time to plan? Or back up processes? Yet you didn't have the courtesy to give that to your user base. I will give you props for opening up early, but this is a total trash move by you guys. Before you bought out yahoo, the guys there knew what they were doing. Maybe you guys should get them to consult for you before you continue this horrible customer service move or any future moves that discontinue tools in these leagues.
The Integrated message boards were a place not only for commissioners to post league information but also for guys to post on topics , trades that maybe in question, and other legitimate league perspective changes. Our last years finish and draft order was there per last season's standing in finished championship and consolation brackets. But you guys decided to make this more difficult in finding the brackets in question.
If you guys actually read this and truly do want positive feedback, you should actually post polls before you make changes like this. No one wants an app forced on them when something they use is working great. Change is good, but not this one.
My best feedback is, put the message boards back on until you you have everything up and running fine. Then have both message boards and your new product in place and see which one the leagues use the most. That may be too complicated for you guys, but it is what is wanted and needed. Giving us an option to use which is best, makes this commish's job a lot more doable.
Thank you for your time.

Bad idea! This is how we manage our league by different subjects. This is how we do our no time limit offline draft, managers spread across multiple time zones and schedules.
We need a message system with different threads. If not we will move our leagues to different platform. Ten years plus Yahoo Fantasy user.

This was enough for me to leave for Fantrax. No added features in years and the ones you had are taken away. This is the death knell of yahoo fantasy.

Obviously a terrible idea. So, now instead of a message board with individual topics...like draft dates, keeper info, league fees...we have to use the chat which also includes the daily add/drops. There's absolutely no way to have conversations this way, the message board is critical as a commissioner. C'mon yahoo, this is a dumb idea and should have never been implemented. Fire that person.

Fantrax is head and shoulders better than yahoo now.
Moved 1 of my 5 Dynasty Leagues there this weekend.
Planning on moving the other 4 there in the near future

For those who are leaving, what site are you now using for your league? We've only ever played through Yahoo for the last 20 years, but we're ready to ditch them now that the board is gone.

Fantrax has to be enjoying this 🤣 -
I think I speak for most. Yahoo - you made a bad mistake. Fix it quick or your platform for fantasy sports is done and let’s be honest - what do you have left?
You have until the pitchers catchers report in a few days, if not, we all gone -

Excellent points. Mark F. I think it's because they just looked at their money leagues and sure, message boards probably aren't used as much in these leagues...but...the longtime private leagues, like the one I've been commissioner for 20+ years, we use the message board all the time. It's paramount to relay keeper information, rules changes/suggestions, draft time, etc...It's very important to private leagues.

Would someone from Yahoo please answer some of these questions? For example, instead of simply stating "Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season" could you please give a reason why? Some people are speculating that it's some sort of free speech issue as if the boards were filled with politically controversial stuff. Others are guessing that Yahoo is somehow going to save money by cutting the message boards. And there are folks wondering if this is part of some nefarious plan to raise traffic on Yahoo chat. So what was the rationale behind this decision?

super disappointed. i only like keeper leagues. we use the boards constantly especially when starting a new league. as a commissioner, using the message boards was critical as it was easy to locate and help plenty of information. not to mention that it is simply easier for me to use my laptop than my phone. maybe i'm getting too old for the newer yahoo formats. super disappointed.

please don't dismantle the message boards! The chat feature isn't a very adequate form of conversation with the entire league. The message boards have been used quite well for years, and I feel like this change is just in an effort to change something. Dont fix what isn't broken.

Are you trying to force people to other platforms? This is an idiotic decision and cripples public leagues. How are we meant to communicate in groups with strangers in a public league without a message board. Email chains back and forth takes this platform back to the 90s. I am going to encourage my leagues for all sports to find a new platform that seems to actually care about the experience.

It sucks losing the message board. We used it as a public forum to discuss trades, rules and other league related issues. I don't even see a chat option on the desktop version of your site.
-

Biggest issue with losing the message board is that Managers can not directly reply to someone sending them an email through the Yahoo league page. As you can see by all the messages, people don't like change. We will get used to using Chat and will move on after the initial knee jerk reaction, but much like using any other group chat system, the original message can get buried under 500 other messages and a lot of people aren't going to scroll up through all of that to see the original communication. Trying to offer constructive criticism instead of just bashing this as a bad idea. We can work around it, but this is not a good idea.

This to me seems like the most idiotic counterintuitive decision that could ever be made. Trying to force people to use your chat program? Pathetic. Just a thought, usually when businesses make changes to their product, they ADD options, not take them away. I am seriously flummoxed by your decision making process here, and I would love to know in what way the message board was such a problem you decided to discontinue what is by far the most popular way for your league members to communicate. Please, make I make sense to me! What the actual ****?
