[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

We used message board to communicate because several owners didn't update email addresses or use secondary ones. I would be OK with this change BUT WITH SOME WARNING. It's BS what you did. I will be scrambling to notify everyone of the league renewal because we are not all friends except for this fantasy game and are spread out across the country. A 24-hour window to communicate with message boards would be nice.

Message boards allow both the opportunity for back-and-forth discussion (re: rules changes, potential trades, draft order, etc.) as well as posting important reference information (such as draft order, keeper rules, in-person events, prizes, historical information, and future information).
They provide a place that can be referenced by or responded to by all managers. Those who opt in can receive notifications about message board updates; those who don't can access them at their convenience.
Message board content is different from chat - it's more permanent and less urgent. Chat's not a reference tool, it's a real-time communication tool. Our league uses text messaging for that.
It's great for smack talk, discussions during a game, or trade banter. But it's not a comprehensive reference and communication tool.
While it's great that Yahoo's contemplating expanding their chat feature to look more like ... dare I say it ... a MESSAGE BOARD ... right now, it's not. If doing so was Yahoo's plan, it should've been ready to roll for the 2023 season -- with all of its features completed. And if it wasn't ready for the 2023 season, it should have been kept in development until 2024.

I'm sorry to say Yahoo, you will be losing me and probably thousands of other longtime fantasy players because of this. The league message boards are by far the best means of league communication. Fantasy Chat is and will be garbage. Too much time to sort thru all the different chats going on as well as all the league transactions. Just not as useful as a league message board. You still have time to make this right and add it back.

The Message Board was the easiest way for managers to communicate with each other and the Commish. Why mess with a good thing? If you are going to change things, change them to make things better... not harder.

Seriously!!? No message board? The message board is the primary method of communication in our league. We do a few early rounds in the draft there. This is just so dumb. What are you thinking? NO ONE USES FANTASY CHAT. There's a good chance we'll move on from Yahoo if you don't restore the message board.

The message board was essential to relay information and discuss improving the league. My league also drafts minor leaguers by using the message board. Truthfully this seems like a lazy decision by yahoo. Removing the message board has no upside. We will look to move our league elsewhere if the message board is not restored.

As a league commissioner I used to post everything on the message board as it seemed to be the only place everyone would actually look. Any league changes or changes that were to be considered were posted on my message boards as well. It also helps to keep discussions in a central location as the messaging system people are always talking back and forth and it's only 1 thread. I had managers complaining about the messaging system to me and how it wasn't working properly for them and such so with the message board I knew everyone was getting their messages...As far as emailing the league...How many of us ignore emails? I'm going to miss the message board a lot.

The message board was critical to exchange of information and ideas to improve our league. Hard to do this in a chat where multiple topics may need to discussed at the same time. Removing it has no upside only downside.

There is no chat “feature” available on the App. How do we communicate with the league now? Post commissioner notes? No one can respond to that.
Email the league? Total garbage.

If anyone finds a good site that is user friendly and has a message board, please post it. Our league is very willing to move our league next year, if we can find a good one with a message board.
-

Bring back the message board. We used it periodically and it was helpful. Our group has been together for quite a few years and that probably makes the message board much more interesting and valuable than in a public league.

Fantrax-----Fantrax-----Fantrax its time to tell Yahoo where they can stick it.

To date, all the leagues I've been in have not had much chatter on the message boards. I think they won't be missed, tbh.

Not sure what Yahoo motivation is to remove the message board. I am sure it has to do with corporate greed, It's your site to do with as you please. Obviously the woke dweeb who made this decision has never run a fantasy league with working adults. The league I am commissioner of has been continuous since 2005. The chat room is essential to a good league. I will wait until March 1st and if you have not corrected this by then i will move to a different format. Your loss not mine.

I hope I'm missing something...but how do you even find the Fantasy Chat via desktop?
-

Don't need to add more fuel to the fire as I agree with everyone here. Deleting message boards for the sole purpose of "promoting" your clunky Fantasy Chat (which we rarely use) is outrageous. Really how difficult is it to just keep both and keep everyone happy?

Very upset that you are screwing everyone

Our league is in our 13th season and we use rely on the message board a lot. It's not just a place for the Commissioner to post rules, etc. We are an engaged league. A lot of our conversations don't fit the format of a chat. Maybe it's time to move our league?

Rich Scopelliti commented
This is the worst decision of all time.
We use message boards for drafts, posting of league rules, decisions by commissioner and cabinet.
Bring this back immediately. No one wants to use the chat feature. It's garbage.
