[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Without the message board, I may consider leaving the Yahoo fantasy leagues and going to a different website.

Terrible. Forget the chat, leave the message board! Why?
-

Are co-commissioners able to post Commissioner's Notes? Or is it just the main commissioner?
If all managers were made co-commissioners (and you fully trusted them), couldn't the 'Commissioner's Note' tool be used as a central means of shared communication in the interim?

This is a terrible idea why did Yahoo do this? We always have been using the message board and it is a critical component that has been used for many years. Please bring it back or I will not be using yahoo for my fantasy sports enjoyment.

This is a poor idea. You are greatly limiting the types of communication and especially the type of time one must have in order to be involved in the conversation.

I'm very disappointed in the loss of the message board. My league utilized it for all group communication. I would call it a critical component. I hope you reconsider this decision and bring it back.
Update
OMG. What a pain. I cannot find the "chat" option so I really can't comment on that. Now, I have to rely on managers reading my Commish Note and then I'm going to get 11 e-mail replies back but not necessarily know what e-mails go with what topic. The loss of the message board is a real problem. If there is not a good remedy then the 2023 baseball season will likely be my 21st and last season with Yahoo. -

***** up a good thing, ever hear if it aint broke don't fix it? For 20yrs you can post a message in your league and now it's gone, doesn't make sense.

We trade draft picks before and after draft. This is all done with messaging. When your offering trades it to 1 owner til deal is done. Not everyone. Some owners , in every league ,in the 20 years ive been doing fantasy leagues do not use or look at emails . The person or persons that pushed for this has never really played yahoo fantasy sports and should lose his or her job . In daily leagues your on the site everyday and all communication its done on messages . I may have 4 cell phones numbers of the 10 owners in league .

This is how we organize our offline draft. Round by round. Instead of people talking whenever over chat. May have to find a different host site.

So dumb. Time to find another provider.

Crazy that you would do this! Message board communication is vital to having an informed and active league. I’ve been thinking of moving our league to another service and this will clinch it for me. Thanks for nothing.

Off to Fantrax I guess.

I find the decision to remove message boards and lean on chat to be ridiculous.
Not everyone does chat but everyone could see the message board. And, considering some people don't even allow emails from their leagues, you're making communication with other GMs more complicated than it needs to be.
At least with message boards it was possible for everyone to access communications and respond regardless. You all at Yahoo know exactly what I'm talking about and I'm sure you can run the analytics around chat, who uses it/who doesn't, email, who granted permission to their league to receive league emails/who doesn't and what communication takes places ovary message boards.
If you make things harder, people will find the path of late resistance and leave. My league of 10 yrs is contemplating leaving next season.
Oh and if chat/email are the only options, allow me to email managers in my league via the Yahoo Sports app so I at least have options.
Are message boards really what you think is important to change/fix?How about fixing all the "broiling" GMs so leagues are more competitive rather than limiting how GMs can communicate/coordinate with one another?
I understand some people may use message boards to bully or verbally abuse others so if that's behind this change, punish those not acting appropriately instead. I also understand in a chat based world where people text you might have thought forcing people away fun message boards wasn't going to be an issue... Well it is. I don't know anyone in any of my leagues that's happy and this. Turn message boards back on otherwise a ton of us are going to leave I've been playing fantasy baseball in some capacity since 1997 (maybe before) and outside of a couple exceptions maybe very early on, I've been exclusively using Yahoo for my fantasy sports. There was a point in time when Yahoo and ESPN were pretty much it for fantasy sports... But that's not the way it is anymore. Make ridiculous decisions like these again, you're going to have a lot of us veterans telling you guys to go pound sand. There's an acronym KISS... Keep it simple silly (silly isn't the actual word but I'm sure you get the point). So keep it simple and maybe consider polling your customers/users before making changes.
Rant over. -

This idea removing the message board for fantasy chat is ridiculous. Maybe you should consider your users first before just implementing your own poor ideas! I have multiple fantasy teams in hockey, baseball and football when it's that time of year. These are all with different groups of people, yet your chat doesn't take that into account at all. Every one of my fantasy teams in all the current sports are all on the same chat. This should be private to each league, not confused with every sport and every league at the same time. How stupid was that idea!

How are you going to remove the message boards without having the upgrades in the chat ready? That should be available before changing the way we've used and saved specific rules and ideas for the last 17 years in our league. Whoever made this decision should read these comments and consider some common sense. You don't transition like this. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea?

Abysmal. I've got a few new managers in my league, and no way to communicate to them. Only returning managers are listed in the chat. I posted a league note, but that's not even visible on the app. Obviously I've emailed them, but they could be like plenty of yahoo users who have outdated email addresses they never check. Would love to be able to gauge draft day/time preferences, talk to them about league fees and a million other things... Mind bogglingly dumb.

Yahoo - trying its hardest to become MySpace. It's like you're consciously trying to drive traffic to other fantasy sites.

How do you use the "chat" feature on desktop?
This is the worst.
We used message board for posting league rules, rolling early draft, communicating issues, everything basically.
