[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

We used the message board to post keepers and picks for each round of an offline draft in one league, and we use message board to post keepers in other leagues. It is critical to the running of most leagues to have them easy to find and available. This is a major mis-step in yahoo's running of fantasy sports leagues. Major Mis-Step!

This is a VERY bad move and will cause us to look for other options outside Yahoo not only for messaging (trades, league changes, etc.) but also potentially moving the league to another platform. I’ve been with Yahoo for around two decades - hate to change but this is incredibly inconvenient. We also used our historical message boards to archive payouts, rule change votes, etc. Incredibly frustrating and there’s absolutely nothing beneficial to your customers with this.

We use chat as the authoritative way to communicate to the league. In cases where we can't or don't follow yahoo rules (possibly because of a yahoo limitation) we use the message board to post waiver eligibility, trade deadlines, or other unforeseen things that need to be addressed. We also use to communicate items that may be traded outside of the yahoo system like minor league players, prospect dollars, etc. I can't emphsaize enough, that it's an authorative source that we can refer back to in the current season, or the following season. Oh and we also use it to post penalties & fines we have established in our league.
I'm confused why you would remove an existing feature before you rolled out it's replacement.

How much does it cost you to just leave the message boards alone? You’re going to lose revenue out the *** from the exodus YOU are creating by “investing” in a feature that akready does what it’s supposed to while removing another, pointlessly. Maybe if you’d invest in some semblance of minors systems managers wouldn’t need to rely on the message board to make their league function. If I were to invest in anything, it would be Fantrax. I hear their user base is about to skyrocket.
Don’t be stupid here yahoo. Your users are telling you loud and clear what they want here. You don’t need to pay for market research or focus groups to figure this out. Your users are telling you. Listen to them before they’re not users anymore. Unless you think your new chat features are going to bring in enough net new users who will indenture to the platform- like the decade long managers here -to replace them.

I hate the App and use my laptop. I just tried to logon to the App and it it doesn't recognize my password. 34 days and it won't matter. If loyalty since 2011 doesn't make a difference and being rated Diamond in your top 1% doesn't make a difference I am gone and will never return. If Yahoo doesn't bring back message boards I will never spend another minute in one of your fantasy leagues again. Thanks for giving me time to move my Football leagues.

I am looking for several established leagues moving to fantrax. Anyone need to fill a spot? -

We can't organize our leagues without the use of the message board, and it seems to all of us that are complaining about it on a daily basis is just going unnoticed by yahoo. Therefore, if the message board isn't restored soon like so many of us DEDICATED managers to yahoo fantasy baseball have BEGGED AND PLEADED for, I'll have no choice but to take my 5 leagues that I run to Fantrax like so many managers on here has already done. I know this, because they've posted it on here. Leaving Yahoo is not what I want, but Yahoo seems like they want us to leave, so like I said, I'll grant there wishes and take my leagues to Fantrax. I HAVE NO CHOICE. The message board is vital to me running a successful league like I have since 2002, and Fantrax has the message board we need.

There are a lot of us that are going to have to pull the trigger on the move soon. We still have about a week for you to decide to restore the boards before we have to enact the transition. I really hate to lose all these decades of history on these boards, but we CAN NOT function without those boards in my league. You're forcing us out - and I really worry that I'll lose teams from the league when we are forced to make the transition. I just can't fathom this decision. It isn't just unwise - the way it was done was cruel.

Why? The message boards are critical for our league, ESPECIALLY at the beginning of the season. It's how we communicate as a group to decide on rule changes, and it's an easy way for the entire league to message each other (not everyone in the league are close enough to have each other's cell phone #'s). If you're going to pump up the "Fantasy Chat" feature, at least make it easy to find and use. So stupid. It just makes me scramble to find another way to communicate to the entire league.

I was going to post that our league has been using the Message Board to organize for the past 20 years, and then I read everyone else saying this. We are old and soon to die out, and Yahoo is targeting youth, so this makes sense. Also just for the record, the worst decision Yahoo ever made was the time Google tried to sell itself to Yahoo for $1M USD. Yahoo thought Google was a non-starter, so they said, no. That set a standard for poor decision making that would be hard to match. You could say it is the WOAT, and it will stand forever.

The 'Trade List' isn't on the app, this needs to change if the message board is no longer available.

Message boards have been our primary communication method in our league for 20 years. Half of our league uses desktop only. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

Need the message board to garner support for vetting trades and possibly vetoeing lopsided trades

It would be nice if Yahoo would consider keeping the message board utility. My league has found it to be quite useful for many years and I don't see myself or most of the league switching to using the chat function in its place. I still prefer the UI here to all the other free to use platforms however and I hope that they can work this out.
