Stock split adjustments
I own a number of AAPL shares dating back many years. Apple has split 3x since I started investing in it however Yahoo Finance does not correctly update your total shares and is not smart enough to know when shares prior to a particular date split ie: 2 for 1, 7 for 1 and 4 for 1 etc. Fidelity on the other hand knows all of this and updates your total share count accordingly automatically for you as well as does my retirement account. With Yahoo Finance I have to manually change my total shares every time there is a split and when I enter various lots it throws off the total figure when a stock splits. Please allow users to enter their stock lot/purchase date and cost and Yahoo Finance show the correct figure. Test it by entering a test figure of purchasing say 200 shares of AAPL on July 1, 1995. In 2023 that should NOT be still 200 shares you own, but rather 22,400 shares plus any dividends reinvestments if you had that set on as well. There should be a dividends reinvestment setting as well that Yahoo Finance has so every 3 months when AAPL declares a dividend reinvestment yahoo finance adds this as additional shares purchased currently at $0.23 per share.
Apple stock split on a 4-for-1 basis on August 28, 2020, a 7-for-1 basis on June 9, 2014, and split on a 2-for-1 basis on February 28, 2005, June 21, 2000, and June 16, 1987.
