Enable disposable email base name change
Many have complained, but it seems that Yahoo has not considered enabling this feature. I have not used my disposable email yet, so I'd like to be able to change the base name. Perhaps users should be able to change their disposable email base name until they have started receiving emails to the created disposable emails.

Please make a basename change available!!!

As long as one deletes any and all temporary disposable e-mail addresses based on the base name, Yahoo should then allow delete or edit of the base name. Please do this, or explain why you are unable.

The UI confused me and I ended up having a really stupid basename. I need to change it, else this feature is useless.

Add me to this suggestion. Their answers are ridiculous. People shouldn't have to create a whole new account just to change something as a base name. At least we should be able to delete it! I sit here and wonder why I haven't switched email providers yet. I've seen suggestions for this all over this site. Does anyone ever read these?!

You definitely need to be able to edit and delete a base alias email. I pay extra for the Yahoo Mail Plus - this is basic functionality to allow changing addresses to avoid SPAM etc... It is the hole point of the alias. If I cant do this then I will likely change email providers. Loyalty to yahoo after 20 years may be coming to an end.

Please allow the base name to be changed/edited. There was no indication that the base name I chose would be permanent, I assumed that being a 'disposable email address' I could change it as I wished. Would be great if the base name could be changed as easily as the keyword section of the disposable email address!! The email alias can be changed, so why not the base name? Please update this feature.

why if you allow to delete the mail alias, why not the disposable email database names?

I have the same problem as OP and two earlier commenters. Was trying different names, the UI kept saying unavailable even though I'm pretty sure it is not updating and checking correctly. After I entered a name with some crazy numbers tagged on and it said Unavailable, I tried to back out, I forgot if I hit Cancel or Back on my browser or changed tabs. Guess what? That random name that was supposedly Unavailable got saved and now I'm stuck with it!
Please fix this guys! Disposable email for a feature that I was looking forward to trying and part of the reason I chose to sign up for Yahoo Mail. Now it's ruined not entirely by my user error, the UI was partly at fault.
You allow deletions of Alias emails, why not Disposable email Base Names? Especially for users who haven't started using it yet, or are willing to delete the entire thing and start clean? -

Asked support for the same thing... their response:
Important - Once you create a base name, it's locked into your account and cannot be edited or removed. If you'd like a different base name, you can create a new Yahoo Mail account and add 1 base name to it. <--- HORRIBLE SUGGESTION FROM SUPPORT.
Unfortunately, what you're looking for isn't possible in the current version of the product. I can see how that'd be useful, though. <--- YEAH, NO DUH?!!!!
You should post your suggestion to add that function on our feedback forum. Our product teams review the posts and look for ideas to include in future releases. <--- ALREADY REQUESTED HERE, BUT STILL NOT FIXED!!

I was trying to figure out different base names that were available but some garbage base name which was available got automatically selected!!
I had not even clicked on Save. I clicked on Cancel but that garbage name got saved!!
I dont understand why these people are not allowing to change base name?!

I just want to clear my Base Name for disposable email addresses. I know it said it's not editable once set, but I really had no idea it meant that same one would be used across all possible disposable addresses I'd make. Now I have a useless Base Name I'd never want to use for any but one disposable address. Yahoo! chat help folks cannot do it, either.
And this topic is over a year old and ranked 388th. Ugh...

Base name set-up is not user-friendly. Users need an option to confirm/accept a basename. I had to test a lot of basenames and kept getting a message that my selection was not available. After I tried a test by typing numbers after a basename, it was assigned to me right away. I did not have an opportunity to back out. I clicked "cancel" to no avail. Now I have a weird spammy basename. Help us Obi Wan Yahoo UX Team!

I would like to change the base name, at least once, I made the mistake of doing a test and did not know that changes could not be made

Look at the age of this topic! It makes me so despondent when service providers don't take any cognisance of their users' feedback. It's such a shame.

I would also find this option useful.

I used my disposable email address base name for years to help sell my collection of guitars, but no longer need it. So now I'd like to change it. I explained this to yahoo & asked them to delete it so I could create a new one & they said they could not, but said "I can see how that'd be useful, though. You should post your suggestion to add that function on our feedback forum. Our product teams review the posts and look for ideas to include in future releases."
I think there should be some limits on how often someone can change it, but think its ridiculous that it can never be changed ever. They need to make this function/feature possible.
