How can we improve New Mail?

I don't know how to remove old email addresses when comes up automatically when I enter an email address. Is it possible to delete them?

When I type an email address some old ones are displayed but there is no "X" sign to delete the unwanted addresses. I have some old emails which are not needed any more and I do not want to see them when I enter an email. Is it possible to remove them somehow?
