I would be fine with ads if it wasn't for the fact that it's so easy to make an ad that links to malicious content and actually get it accepted. Or worse, an ad that runs a malicious script in the background of the page it's on.
This and advertising companys' obsession with resource-hogging and intrusive ads are entirely the reason why I block ads in the first place.
Unfortunately, advertisers push this massive strawman argument that users that block ads are thieves trying to get a free ride online. Why? Because it's cheaper for them to simply vilify users than it is to keep track of their services and proactively prevent malicious, intrusive or resource-hogging ads from getting into the system.

I have ad blocker on for a reason, if you continue to bug me about this I will take my email business elsewhere. Believe me there is a tipping point where the hassle of switching my email is offset by getting hassled about this by you but it is fast approaching

Drop the ******* auto play Video player in my INBOX folder. My fairly powerful PC and its browser can handle the load, but NOT MY SMART DEVICE's and its browser. It goes like this, you so called tech "Experts" over in Yahoo! Tech or some such;
1. I use my smart device's browser for Yahoo Mail, because my built in email apps can't sync with Yahoo Mail server... 1 out of 10 times. And I get sick trying to tech it out myself, every time it happened.
2. So, when I typed in my mail yahoo into my Smart Device's browser, lo and behold, it loads this new yahoo mail page. Where the inbox autoplay some video.
3. This video will tax my phone/smartdevice's processor, which in turn chew up my battery. And thus, shorterning my battery's lifespan because of the increase in charging frequencies. And then, my battery would drop from 100% charge to 10% charge in an hour, because it is degrading.
4. And then I have to change my battery, which while not as pricey as a new phone, still is an investment. And speaking of changing phone, you know what a hassle it is to transfer all those settings you come to love in your old phone into a similiar model? Too much HASSLE.
5. Plus, an Inbox is something private, on a surface glance. Now, lets say you do check our email, and use the data to display a video ads related to most common use phrase in my latest and recent emails. Now, that particular video is playing, in a folder that is supposedly to be a private and safe space. On the surface, at least. You know how distressing it is?Stop this stupid ****, and I may whitelist some ads on the front page. Maybe. If you continue to be this pervasive, well, Mozilla and other opensource group are just happy to **** over your design with add-on of their own to counter your stupid design choices.

I got an ad blocker in the first place because some of their ads kept trying to get me to download something, probably malware. Like **** I am going to whitelist you, yahoo.

I don't mind having a few (a FEW!) ads, but I will have to block ads on Yahoo mail as long as I keep getting those fake "you have a virus!" ads that take over the entire tab. And please, only a few ads. I know Yahoo needs to pay the bills and all but having so many ads just junks up the page. Less is more. Would you rather have so many ads that people block them all, or just 2-3 ads that people can tolerate and allow? You may serve more ad slots in total by serving fewer per page.
