imap
My desktop yahoo email does not sync with yahoo server i.e, IMAP settings are not working. But IMAP settings are working on yahoo app on android phone.

Third-party email clients, like Outlook and Mac Mail, use either POP or IMAP protocols to connect to your Yahoo Mail account. These apps need a lot of things to align perfectly in order for them to work properly with an email account. Use these steps to identify and fix the source of the problem:

all my Inbox emails are being replicated in my Outbox on the Android mobile application on a Samsung Galaxy S10+. i followed Yahoo tech support instructions and have cleared the cache via the Settings Menu. that removes the Outbox emails that shouldn't be there, but they reappear at some point hours or a day later. i tried doing this again, and then uninstalling Yahoo Email on the phone, then changing my Password on the desktop then reinstalling, and powering up the phone, but the problem reoccurs. Verizon Tech Coach couldn't figure it out, so they got Yahoo Pro support on the phone over the weekend and i was told that Yahoo was having some issues that he couldn't talk about and he wasn't able to access my account and to please call back on Monday. I did so on Tuesday and the woman who answered was unable to provide any help, or ticket number, and ultimately disconnected from me and didn't call back despite having taken my phone number in case of disconnection..
Has Yahoo experienced or is it experiencing another major data breach? can anyone help me resolve this security issue that makes me think my account has been hacked?

Until today, I was able to download msgs using Thunderbird. Now it has a funky sign-in requirement that fills the entire screen and insists that I stop blocking cookies. I can sign in just fine using Firefox without disabling my cookie blocker. I would like NOT to disable my cookie blocker when I'm using TBird as well.

iOS 13.2.2 (11/9/19): The Apple iPhone mail app has problems that were not there before the update. At first the app said "No Mail" in the middle of the screes, and "423 unread" at the bottom. A sr. Apple adviser had me delete the account and reinstall it. Had to do a hard reset of the phone. Then some mail shows up, but not all. Now it says
" Account Error" and "Connection to the server failed" . Apple says to ask you about this problem. -

I'm running into the same issue. It was working fine on 11/1. Then nothing it just stopped working. And any support e-mails I send just give me a link to how to configure the e-mail or use the app password functions. Not cool, I'm savy enough to look at all of your help pages Yahoo before I try to contact support. Please take support requests seriously.

I have configured both protocols via Office Pro Plus 2016.
When leveraging PoP:
The protocol no longer functionsWhen leveraging IMAP
The Inbox folder never synchronizes only sub folders. There are also an enormous amount of folders in the trash and other sub-Inbox folders that are created. Not sure why. This new version is a hack job. -

The Yahoo Mail application for android doesn't sync correctly. And the unread list doesn't update correctly. Even after I delete or mark as read unread messages in the android app they appear in the unread list. And after I have deleted or marked read all unread mail using chrome on Windows 10 the android app on my phone shows as unread messages which have been deleted or marked unread. I think the android app might be showing unread message which have been deleted (moved to trash). While accurate this is unexpected behavior.

For the last week or 2 my mobile actions do not sync to a desktop login. I have to go through and re-delete everything when viewing on desktop that has already been deleted on mobile. It's only from mobile to desktop. If I make actions on desktop it replicates to mobile accurately.

I have an iPhone SE which is somehow no longer syncing with my Mac - in terms of my yahoo mail account. So when I open yahoo mail from my mac, it still appears as unread and unopened in my phone. Apple can't help!! Why has this suddenly happened? DO I need to get a new non Yahoo account I wonder...

I checked all the server settings like normal but Yahoo is the only email provider that seems to be hit and miss when it comes to IMAP. Has anyone got this working reliably? Working with webmail is prehistoric and a modern abomination when you have several email accounts.

PS: probably accomplished by blocking on IP address range that cell phones tend to come in on - matched against IP port number for IMAP.

IMAP works for PC, but does not work on Cell phone. It was working a few days ago - but now has stopped working with the message: 'imap.mail.yahoo.com' is not responding. I have Email accounts with other services also using imap. They still work. Passwords are correct, and have not changed. STOP PLAYING GAMES!! You will not be able to force me to use yahoo's app because:
1) My cell is an older model that you don't have an app for, but it does use SSL based IMAP.
2) I get 4 days of usage on cell phone w/o having to recharge - what do you get?
3) Yahoo's app demands too much access into someones private cell phone info, burns excess battery and does not add anything except additional adds that can't be easily escaped.IMAP is easy, quick, secure (unless it is Yahoo that lets a hacker have access to their server's password files - yep it has happened in the past). If that happens, the current security regime is useless - also ref cell phone cloning and using copied IMEI(s).
It comes down to this - if Yahoo doesn't stop, I leave because Yahoo stops being useful to me. No target for your sponsored adds (yep - I know how to pull down full Email headers, so I know which adds Yahoo has been paid to push to people). Note that the number of adds I get far exceeds the number of valid Emails I get. I am not the only one who knows this is happening and are likely to leave. I already have alternate services set up ready for a 'hot swap'. Think it over Yahoo!!
What Yahoo is currently doing with their app etc, does nothing more than increase their own costs, risks loosing clients to their service, alienate customers, etc. Not very good business decisions. IMAP is very lightweight on network bandwidth, machine update and service costs, software dev costs, and the cost on needed hardware to support Email. So why does Yahoo always seem to want to take the expensive approach with minimal payoff?
