Stop asking for 'recovery' phone numbers for my mail account. I'm not going to allow yahoo to monetize that as well. I give you one of the phony numbers used by robo marketeers anyway, so why bother?

Yeah, they really need an alternate source for verification. I myself do no even own a cell (and I know I'm in the minority on this) so trying to send me a text is gonna be a difficult endeavor. Maybe if they had personal questions akin to what other services use. As it stands now, their ID system is beyond obtuse.
