    I have never seen anything like this and am suspicious that this is even from Yahoo. If I make a mistake it could do harm in the form of a virus or if I fail to respond to something legitimate then I risk losing my email.

    I received an email purporting to be from Yahoo demanding a Re-Upgrade my account by December 21 or I would lose my mail. Is this real and what is it?

    Idea... have an easy way to contact Yahoo to verify such things? Or an obvious/easy to access official link Yahoo folks can go to in order to look into the legitimacy of official looking Yahoo emails that might actually be scams.

    Every so often, I get an e-mail telling me that for some reason (this time an alleged e-mail update), I need to click something to retain my account. It ALWAYS feels like a scam.

    It asks me for a lot of information and I think it might be a malicious email. Please let me know if you sent it to me. I really need this email account because I use it for all of my emails so if it is you, please let me know and I will respond to it. Thank you for your time and attention.

    An email came in the form that looked like a legit Yahoo email, informing me:

    "Dear valued Yahoo member,

    We are closing all old versions of our Mailbox. Update your account to avoid losing your mailbox and important messages.
    Note: If you do nothing, you may no longer be able to access your email and your account will be closed before these terms become effective. "

    This came with a call to action "Follow the service link below to get your account updated automatically." and a button link.

    It appeared fishy as the email was addressed from **@umhs-sk.net

    Nowhere on the Yahoo site is there info about what a legit security warning from Yahoo would look like. I just received a security warning from this email address at my work email (which is not a yahoo email) regarding my yahoo account (which I do have as my personal email): security@yahoos-mail.com. The email was totally sus. I turned it into our IT department but it would be nice if Yahoo was a little more proactive about this kind of thing.
