Third time posting... Random phone attached to my profile. Admin, please READ my details before pasting an incorrect generic reply.
I am getting very frustrated with Yahoo's support - and their insistence of immediately closing tickets so I can't reply and tell them their 'fix' didn't work. This system is so broken...
Let's try this again...
There is a phone number tied to my email - it is NOT a recovery phone number. It is tied to my profile. It isn't even MY phone number (nor would I have ever posted my number online with the number of security breaches across major sites lately). How do I REMOVE this? (And, no, I don't want to change it.) I don't see it in my profile or settings.
There are several other people asking the same question, but most have no replies, and the one admin gives a link to 'disable my signature' in writing email - my signature has always been disabled. So that 'resolution' will NOT work. Several others have complained about the same thing.
I'd attach a picture if I could. When I click on an email from me, in the right-hand column, my name, email, and this not-mine phone number appear. I want to get rid of that phone number.
Once more, it isn't a phone recovery setting and it isn't a signature thing.
We’d like to look more into this, please send us a DM on Twitter at @YahooCare, containing your Yahoo ID and a screenshot of your experience.

As an update for others - we found the solution!
If you have a phone number attached to your yahoo profile - go into your contacts. Find your email address. You have to click on edit to see the phone details.
