Why change something that isn't broken why would I change to the new one when you have already removed all the function I use in the old one. The old way to differentiate between read mail and new mail was just fine how are you gonna change that, some a ridiculous way that makes everything harder to read? Every time you make a change you make it less functional and harder to use whether you think you're making it easier you are not.
