Restore Desktop‑Optimized Design Instead of smartphone/ Mobile Style
I prefer the desktop-style Yahoo Mail
for use on a personal computer or MacBook.
The older layout was far more practical
for desktop users because it supported:
- List layout
- Multiple tabs for multitasking
- dynamic message content
The left‑side navigation in the old version was clean, p
redictable, and easy to use.
It followed this order:
- Inbox
- Unread
- Starred
- Drafts
- Sent
- Archive
- Spam
- Deleted Items
- Photos
- Documents
- Subscriptions
- Travel
- Folders
The New Yahoo Mail interface looks like a
Smart MOBILE PHONE Lay-out, which
does NOT make sense for desktop users.
Desktop and mobile should have
two different designs, optimised for their platforms.
This change feels like it was made
for internal convenience rather than user experience.
For example, Yahoo promotes the new design as
making it “easier to unsubscribe,”
but unsubscribing was already easy in the old version.
The promotional message
“See priority emails faster” and “One place for timely messages”
looks good, but the interface itself is clearly built for smartphones,
not desktop computers.
Another concern is that users were NOT ASKED for INPUT
until the change was already happening.
You encourage us to “try the new version,”
yet at the same time push it aggressively with
constant pop‑ups that interrupt the experience.
