This "problem" is not really the problem.
The true "problem" involves how a league's commissioner sets up the scoring system.
If you set up your league with RBs and QBs scoring lots more points than the other positions, then of course you'll have managers drafting extra RBs and QBs.
If you set up your league so that DEFs and Ks and return specialists also have good value,
then managers will choose extra DEFs and Ks and return specialists.
The issue here involves supply and demand.
WRs have an over-supply, so you don't benefit from picking extra WRs unless return specialists are rewarded in your league specs.
DEFs and Ks are actually in shorter supply than RBs and QBs. It is amazing how much differently a manager will draft when DEFs and Ks and return specialists are valuable positions on a roster.
So, just reduce the value of RBs & QBs and watch this "problem" disappear. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented

I don't see how this idea would really help leagues.
Allowing this change would force me to check another setting/rule while looking at leagues to decide which one to join.An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented

Hey Klondike, there's no good reason for you to talk to these people.
They have already set their minds that they are right.
They are not going to balance their scoring schemes.
They are not going to add a WR/TE position or a second QB position to cause their managers to draft a different mix of players.
What they will do is continue asking for a method to limit the number of RBs on the rosters of their opponents.
You may as well just give up on trying to explain it to them. -

I would prefer an equation to ten different categories of yardages.
We use equations for yards gained by passing, rushing, and receiving.
It should be easy enough to put in an equation for yards allowed by DEFs.An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
I'm all for including Punters in Fantasy Football. My concern is how to score them.
I'd rather not have anything to do with how far the punts are returned. We don't adjust QB scores by the distance that interceptions are returned, and most leagues don't use a "pick six" stat.
Let's consider a simple equation which rewards the distance of the punt (some fraction of a point per yard) plus an equation which rewards closeness to the goal line (for punts from the 20 to the 1 yard line, a fraction of a point for each yard closer to the goal line, but no bonus for rolling into the end zone).
The distance equation above actually scores blocked punts. For example, a partially blocked punt (resulting in a short distance before the ball goes out of bounds) would score a very low value from the yardage equation above. And, a fully blocked punt (resulting in the ball being fielded behind the line of scrimage) would score a negative value from the yardage equation above, changing what should have been a positive number into a negative number. -

A "consolation" bracket is available now.
The commissioner of your league can add it to your league's settings (rules) for next year.
However, I don't know about a 6-team championship bracket in the same league as an 8-team consolation bracket. -
