[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

This decision to remove message boards is completely incomprehensible. How could you shut down message boards before launching an upgraded chat site?
You have successfully united the fantasy community AGAINST YOU! EVERYBODY IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS.
The decision should clearly be reversed. But I know that it won't be.
You should not be short-sighted for the next seasons in other sports.
We are not all immature 17 year-olds who are incapable of doing something harder than scrolling.
Some of us can actually put several paragraphs togther.
The fantasy community is full of people who are interested in doing complicated things and we do not all fit into one tidy box and do things only one way.I am in multiple leagues, including keeper leagues which have detailed rules.
We used message boards to:
1) get confirmations as to which members are returning to the league and everybody would easily see which members were returning and which ones weren't.
2) post our detailed rules (as the Commissioner's note is not practical).
3) have rule-change discussions for the future
4) as an FAQ (and not answer the same question multiple times)
5) people advertized available leagues in several sports
6) as a reference site for other issuesAs the commissioner of many leagues, I am EXTREMLY frustrated at how difficult communication has been this year. Roughly 75% of users have no clue where to find the Chat link or are completely uninterested in it. Sending e-mails doesn't work because they do not stand out and are ignored (and often go to Spam folders).
I am convinced leagues will have record numbers of teams not even show up for drafts and be managerless from Day 1 of the season.
Some leagues have moved to Fantrax which has a far superior product to Yahoo Fantasy.
Some leagues have been abandoned (as people are sick and tired of being disappointed by Yahoo) and just join new leagues on other platforms. Many leagues are NOT waiting for an unknown upgrade to come to Yahoo chat. We are using third party apps (such as Discord, Signal, GroupMe, Slack etc). Frankly too many leagues use too many different apps but everyone wants something better. We want to do more than post Gifs.
What you really should have done was implement a streamlined way for managers to click on a button to confirm their intention/interest to return to a league. Perhaps even have an easy way of communicating whether they would prefer a week-day or week-end draft and whether mornings, afternoon, evening, or late-night drafts are best.
Your Private league listings should have many MORE filters. One should be able to look more easily for leagues with certain ranges of sizes, categories or other important settings.
The real problem is that Fantasy Sports is not profitable enough for Yahoo/AOL. So programmers will generate a greater return on investment by working on other areas. That's why, your product is stagnant and you are not making any upgrades under the hood. As consumers, we are better served by specialized websites which can focus on our needs as consumers.
Good luck keeping your customer base.

Right now all the communication is from me, the commish, while everyone else finds it impossible to communicate. Even worse, you mention Fantasy Chat, but I don't see it listed in the commish tools or anywhere else. It's not linked in the message above. So what is Fantasy Chat? And where can I find out?

The message board allows a thread where you can continue on a same subject, or topic. When kept to the game and competition it can't be replaced. However, I get there are trolls and sore losers that use it to be disruptive. Good league mangers and mediate that.
Recently a trade was called out, for the unbalance and intention late in this basketball season via email. It took some too long to even look at it.
As for the chat board? It's cluttered with transactions to keep up with the conversations. As for emailing the league, there are times when I hit all, or a single player, it seems Yahoo chooses who I want to contact.
Basically you're letting the bad ruin it for the good. If you're trying to get rid of Yahoo fantasy sports, you're headed in the right direction. I'll give it another year, or two.

Have not seen one positive comment in favour of abolishing the Message Boards - then again, the highly educated, super-smart Yahoo Staff know way more than us, so I should just shut the f*ckup! Geezus, what a train-wreck.

Why? Is something wrong with the boards or is the removal permanent (yearly)? Message Boards are a quick and easy league communication tool.

our message boards were very importat, we used these to set our keepers so that everyone could see who people were keeping even before the keeper deadline, and we used the boards to confirm if a owner was active or returning for that season. You took a very valuable tool from our leagues

Not having the message board is a deal breaker for me. I am seriously considering switching to another site to host my league next season.

Message boards are useful. I'm disappointed they're not available.

We use the Message Board to announce keepers. The chat feature does not even show up on the computer version of the league, only on the mobile device. You need to make the chat feature more transparent as to its location.

Please add message boards back. It was the easiest and most effective way of communication in leagues.

This was the primary mechanism for communication. Making your users conform to what is speculated to be a good idea is short-sighted. You DO realize that your only existing demographic that uses Yahoo for Fantasy are 40+, correct? You are taking incremental steps to alienate the only people who use you. Now is the time to bring the message board back. Listen to the users that you actually have. It's an antiquated platform but at least it was consistent.

Message board is vital for league communication. The chat system sucks, the note system sucks, and can't reply to league emails. The only thing that worked well was message board and you removed it??? The new player card is trash, the player profile now no longer has career stats, and now removing message board? I'm sure yahoo is going to lose a lot of users this year.

Our league relied on the message board for communication regarding draft day/time, getting keepers in, etc. The 'email all managers' seems to miss some recipients? It's also very nice to document all communication throughout the season. Please consider bringing back this tool.
Thank you -

You are asking for our feedback regarding message board removal on a message board????
Please reconsider. It is critical for league setup and communication.

Post on this thread too ^^^
Let's push multiple threads about this to the Top 10.
The title of this thread is merely "Removal Feedback"
Getting the title of the thread linked above ("Bring Back Message Boards") into the Top 10 sends a stronger message that Yahoo has intentionally screwed over its users

Lol complete trash, no wonder people are leaving this platform. Every comment is about how terrible of a decision this is, but it's been crickets since they asked for our feedback.
Trash fantasy platform, and trash decision.
