[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

please don't dismantle the message boards! The chat feature isn't a very adequate form of conversation with the entire league. The message boards have been used quite well for years, and I feel like this change is just in an effort to change something. Dont fix what isn't broken.

Are you trying to force people to other platforms? This is an idiotic decision and cripples public leagues. How are we meant to communicate in groups with strangers in a public league without a message board. Email chains back and forth takes this platform back to the 90s. I am going to encourage my leagues for all sports to find a new platform that seems to actually care about the experience.

It sucks losing the message board. We used it as a public forum to discuss trades, rules and other league related issues. I don't even see a chat option on the desktop version of your site.

Biggest issue with losing the message board is that Managers can not directly reply to someone sending them an email through the Yahoo league page. As you can see by all the messages, people don't like change. We will get used to using Chat and will move on after the initial knee jerk reaction, but much like using any other group chat system, the original message can get buried under 500 other messages and a lot of people aren't going to scroll up through all of that to see the original communication. Trying to offer constructive criticism instead of just bashing this as a bad idea. We can work around it, but this is not a good idea.

This to me seems like the most idiotic counterintuitive decision that could ever be made. Trying to force people to use your chat program? Pathetic. Just a thought, usually when businesses make changes to their product, they ADD options, not take them away. I am seriously flummoxed by your decision making process here, and I would love to know in what way the message board was such a problem you decided to discontinue what is by far the most popular way for your league members to communicate. Please, make I make sense to me! What the actual ****?

Message boards are important for each league's individual communication. Please revisit and bring it back

Fantasy leagues don't need a "chat" but participants do need a means of quickly communicating with the other members of their league. Although some other fantasy league providers do offer "chat" they do so along with a provision for messaging. It would appear that the extra chat features Yahoo is promising to offer already exist on the previously provided message board. It's difficult to understand how this decision to eliminate the message board and offer only a chat feature benefits the fantasy league player. Please consider the consumer.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
D. L. Vickers (yahoo fantasy player for more than ten years) -

Plain and simple...makes ZERO sense

Over 500 messages and 29 pages of people PLEADING for message boards to return, and commenting on how negative a decision this is -- and that is just the people who are voicing their opinion. Plenty are already jumping ship to other sites. Yahoo has to reverse this decision. WE NEED THE BOARDS! #BRINGBACKTHEBOARDS. No other thread has half as many comments. The closer we get to the start of the fantasy season, the worse this will be!!!! FIX THIS DECISION!!

My league definitely needs the Message board. That is our number one way to communicate and store league details. As it is, we use Fantrax to do our slow draft. Now we need to find a place to replace the message board. As much as I hate to, my league may want to move our league over to Fantrax if the message board is not returned in Yahoo. I am shocked at your decision to remove the message board.

Why not both Message Boards and Fantasy Chat? Why choose one over the other? Many have voiced their disapproval so why be so extreme to remove the message board entirely? If you want to push the Fantasy Chat feature introduce it this year along with keeping the Message Boards.

BAD CALL. The message boards are the only reliable, transparent and efficient way to communicate key league issues, from draft date & time to trades etc...This is especially true where there is a lot of back and forth communication on a topic. I agree with many of the posts, this move by Yahoo is a significant downgrade. Email & chat are simply not as functional for league communication.

Message boards are essential to the functionality of our league! As commissioner, I use the message board to relay important information to the league weekly. First, this is how keeper reminders are sent out (WHERE IS THE KEEPER FUNCTIONALITY IN THE APP??), second - my league has weekly challenges where I provide updates league-wide. Email is inefficient, and I'm not typing these updates into a chat feature. Finally, since I do run a keeper league - I use previous years message board posts for historical context, that way I can track mangers with keeper-players on expiring contracts. This is a disappointing update, and seemingly unnecessary. I hope Yahoo will reconsider eliminating the message boards, but if not, I am fairly confident that my leagues will migrate to a different service.
Update: Commissioner notes need to be added to the app. Managers cannot see notes.

We still have a lot of managers that don't even use your app. Communication with multiple people using multiple levels of tech needs to be considered. I'm sure we'll adapt. But the message board was the center of our league communication.

Is there a way to use Chat if you are connected on a PC and not a phone or tablet?
If you are going to remove the message board then make sure that the chat is accessible from all places where the league is accessible. And before you remove the message board make sure the Chat works as opposed to taking away the message board THEN adding threading, pinning, polls and more. -

My league is now struggling to get things started this year without a message board in place. Only 4 or our 12 owners are communicating with the group since Chat is not available on the website (and new messages on the Android app are hard to notice with the tiny icon change). The Commish Notes need a long scroll down to see them on the website and cannot be found on the Android app at all, so barely anyone is seeing them. If emails are being sent through the built-in email system, they are not being received by myself right now.
The league message board system may not have been pretty, but if was functional. If you cannot immediately replace it with an equally or more highly functional system, then you need to restore the boards ASAP.

Why, Why??? Want it back. Who is responsible. This is needed for notes. You cannot go back and look at notes when there are hundreds of messages through the messenger. This is needed. Why is this being removed?

If any league was on the fence about changing sites...this pushes us all over the edge.

LMAO...no message boards? Why would you take this away? We not only use this to trash talk, but we also use it to post important league conversations. We always go back to previous years and look at message boards to see what discussions we have had as a league, who voted for certain issues, etc. The chat feature is not as reliable, nor easy to navigate to quickly find these past items. Not happy about this at all.
