[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

I run 2 leagues with 32 managers, and participate in a 3rd. We conduct our offline draft on the message board.
I cannot do in chat what I can do in messages.
(1) not everybody reveals their email address,
(2) Fair and just communication from a commissioner or manager (trades posts, league deadlines are far superior on a message board than in a chat string.
(2A) Commish Notes - which are exclusive to the commish.
(3) The message board does well to host community interaction and create a "record" /archive of important posts. -

It was a terrible move to, out of the blue, just get rid of the message board. Then when you get called out for it, play it off like you're "gathering feedback" instead of owning up to your mistake and putting in the work necessary to bring back this feature that is clearly vital to many of us. The whole point of the League Overview page is to have everything you need in one place. I don't even know what "fantasy chat" is, let alone where to find it.
We hold our entire draft slowly offline via the message board - each manager posts who they are taking and the commissioner adds them to the roster. All league communication is via the message board - discussion of rule changes, trade ideas, questions, anything really. Illegal roster drops of keepers and subsequent commissioner moves are kept track of via the message board. We have done this for 13 seasons now, and suddenly you decide, without notice, input, or seemingly reason, to get rid of it.
If we are to explain to you why we need the message boards, why don't you first explain to us why we don't need them?

Where was the request for feedback before the implementation? The messages is an key cog in league communication. This is going to hurt the leagues and yourself in the process. This is a mistake. If this continues to Football, basketball and the other sports, you're really screwing yourself here. Again, this is a mistake.

No message board but we can post a message here. So Stupid!!! That was the whole fun of it.

oh goodness, you guys are getting worse and worse. Why not just have drafts and statistics not available this season as well. Sad to see that your business model is to REMOVE functions rather than stay the course or improve...paid or not. Glad I went to Fantrax for the important leagues....

I cannot do in chat what I can do in messages.
(1) not everybody reveals their email address.
(2) Fair and just communication from a commissioner or manager (trades posts, league deadlines and game "emotions") are far superior on a message board than in a chat string or Commish Notes - which are exclusive to the commish.
(3) The message board does well to host community interaction and create a "record" /archive of important posts.
(4) Many of my managers (four leagues/64 managers 21st year) have been playing for 10 or more years. We're old school and don't like change.
(5) Chat is hardly used and emails are not communally advantageous in my leagues.
(6) Some sidebar talks go by email that often alienates other managers.
(7) Commissioners like me are successful because I have a message board to post periodic "news" stories about who's doing well and who isn't. The reporting and drama is what brings people back every year. Please turn the message board back on.
Thank you,
Thoughts from the El Nido Leagues Universe.

Well thanks for the heads up. My commissioner can't post a thread about keepers. It was the easiest thing in the world to keep leagues running year to year. You are one of the worst companies online

Hey Oceans 45 - Fantrax has improved recently. Like guy said below offline drafts are easy there. The chat feature if used on laptop can be clicked up to full screen so it is like the size of a message board to read now, And, oh yes, a for real MESSAGE BOARD.
Also Fantrax is free and specializes in BASEBALL Fantasy as it's main sport whereas Yahoo only cares about Football and some about Basketball. They obviously hate the Baseball part.

I never really used them much so not a big deal. What is the story on Mock drafts? Now that's a big thing to me. Are they going to held later or is that feature history?
-

Also, why was there no prior notice and why are you NOW asking for feedback? The time for feedback should have been before the decision was made.
When municipalities are considering big projects there are public meetings for residents to voice their concerns. Feedback after the fact is just wasted breath, unless you're actually going to listen to the users and bring the boards back this year. -

I’ve only ever played Yahoo fantasy, in the 19th, 15th and 14th year of my keeper leagues. Just signed up for Fantrax. Moving them. It was disappointing when I saw yahoo made ZERO additions to fantasy in the “what’s new” section, but then this, removing the message board? Started looking around and saw that Fantrax offers offline “slow drafts” that we would do on yahoo message board - except as an actually option, then trading multiple future years of picks and 3 team+ trades…Oh and minor league option for the dynasty league to control minor leaguers. Yeah, yahoo… bye Felicia.

Bring back the message boards. Many dynasty leagues use the boards to conduct offline drafts.
I don't find the Fantasy Chat to be useful at all. All leagues are clumped into one window, plus there is no e-mail notification when a new message is received. Also, who needs to see a bunch of posts about who added/droped a player? I've never used the Fantasy Chat and would move to an alternate site with free message board capabilities before using it. -

Eliminating the message boards may be the single worst decision in the history of Yahoo fantasy baseball! And that's saying a LOT! You're going to lose a LOT of leagues over this!

Commissioner - 5 Dynasty Baseball LeaguesI conduct our Rookie Drafts each new season on the Message Board. This was the only thing Yahoo had better than Fantrax, ease and organization of communicating with the Leagues.
I tried using chat. It is so disorganized I can't even tell who I am talking to, much less what league I am talking to.
Please do not go through with this decision. You will force me to move to Fantrax, as the communication ease and overall familiarity and user interface was the only thing keeping me here to begin with. They have tremendous player information and player pool depth compared to Yahoo. -

Over 10 pages of commissioners freaking out and Yahoo says "meh". I'm already moving my 14 year league to another site. Thanks Yahoo. Can't wait till your site collapses.

Message Boards are absolutely critical in our league. We draft with it. Discuss rules through it. Talk trash through it.
Really bad move and poor form to remove this feature Yahoo!.
My league mates will likely vote to move on to another platform if you don't reverse course.
