[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Horrible decision. This has been the sole method of communication for this league for 20 years, hard to believe you are that clueless about the limitations of your other functions.
Hope someone is reading all the comments and feedback here, they are dead on.
Very disappointing.

"We got rid of messageboards but you can Email League or use trading list" - hard to believe Yahoo is this clueless about the messageboard esp after all these comments. Half the teams in my league use burner email accounts when they sign up, so Email League is useless. And nobody looks at the trading list (maybe one or two ppl ever actually use it). We've resorted to an email thread, which we're able to do bc everyone knows each other. I'm guessing we rep a tiny percentage of leagues in that respect...and if I didn't have everyone's emails we'd just be out of luck. The stupidity of removing the messageboards is breathtaking.

Chat and message boards are not the same thing, and provide different use cases. This is a ridiculous product flaw to remove message boards which are the superior option for:
- Posting league specific content, like commissioner previews/recaps of matchups
- Initiating trade conversations since a team can only list a maximum of 5 players on the trading block and the original notification is almost immediately pushed below the fold as league transactions are made
- Post leaguewide messages - managers want everything nicely stored together instead of having to search through their inbox.
- Post nonsense between friends - no one wants spam emails or incessant chat notifications. Message boards allow content to be discovered at the player's leisure and persist longer than a disposable chat
- Makes the league page feel like a hub/place where the whole league is involved and together. Removing it transforms the whole experience nothing more than a short set of Pavlovian responses- set my lineup, check my team's stats, and close. It's so detrimental to the community feeling of the league, that if message boards are not available for football season we will move our league to another platform.
Just a really ignorant and uniformed product decision made without player input, or support. -

Also my 3rd round pick Altuve broke his thumb the next game he played after our draft. He is gonna miss 2 months he should be on the 60 day IL and that should have started a couple weeks ago yet he is still listed as DTD? I can put him on an injury spot and pick someone up as soon as that is updated! Young players are being announced as making the opening day roster and I have one I want to sign but I can't drop anyone to pick him up so let's stop dragging our feet on that

I personally used the message board for several things in the passed. Mainly to start trade talks or to use it as a trade block when I was ready to trade a player to see the offers I could get. Not many people check the trade block but the message board always sent a notification

I think you should be able to add players without dropping if players are on IL.

Man... so annoying.
our league had players exchange each week, between wining and losing teams.
It will be such a chore to keep track now... -

I have some leagues that have cancelled and moved to Fantrax. However, I think they would be able to come back and make a go of it with one added feature or change. We use our message board to track prospect adds, drops, and the lists for each team. If Yahoo could create a "minors" player designation where these player can be kept on each team's roster, that would be great. The other option is to make it so that the NA player designation has no restrictions and you can put whatever player on it that you like. The problem now is if you put a prospect with an NA designation on your NA roster spot and then they actually get called up to the majors, they lose that NA designation and thus freeze your roster moves. No NA restrictions would make it so the players would be on the individual team rosters and the commissioners could regulate proper use in their leagues and, as a result, make message boards not so essential. Hopefully you could make this minor upgrade and save a lot of leagues from leaving to other platforms.

Some of the leagues I am in have moved to Fantrax, but I think they would come back if one change was made. We used the message boards to track adds, drops, and lists of prospects for our teams. If there was a player designation that allowed a team to keep these prospects on our roster, that would work. A designation like “minors” would make message boards not so essential. We could even use the NA designation if the roster changes restrictions were removed. Right now if you put a prospect on NA and they get called up and lose their NA designation, it freezes your roster changes. If it were possible to put any player on NA, regardless of their status and then allow commissioners to police the use of it in their leagues, that would work great. Please respond or let us know if that could be an option. Thanks.

Please bring back the league message board/chat. We used this all the time. Most of our 14 owners in the league have already asked to move to another platform if this is not brought back. We have been on yahoo for over 20 years, not sure why they would get rid of this feature. We probably won’t be back if it doesn’t come back. Thanks

Our workaround has been to open up a Facebook group. We post everything on the Facebook group like it were a message board.
Oh, and when we need to chat? Guess what? The Facebook group has made us realize that we all have Facebook. So we all chat on Facebook Messenger.
Congrats, you've simultaneously created a reason for reduced traffic on our league and team pages, and led us to a chat alternative, simply because you want us to be forced to use Yahoo chat.
I can guarantee we will be using Yahoo chat a lot less than we were previously (which admittedly was not very much).

I am SO disappointed in removing the message boards! For one thing, the Chat interface is abysmal - no notifications on web, confusing league/person interface, tough to figure out in app. Secondly, I don't always want to do chat. I like the asynchronous interface of a message board, where we can go back and respond later (maybe go back and belatedly taunt someone crowing over their draft success, whatever). Our schedules do not align that "chatting" is the best interface - I like to have a static message with a topic, where people can respond specifically to that. It is ESPECIALLY critical in pre-season stuff, where people need to discuss potential rules changes, keepers, etc.

Our league has 33 roster spots and if teams do not have 3 injured players we used the message board to communicate which players are not free agents. Removing this functionality which was the golden source of information prior to someone making a free agent pick-up is very annoying. We also kept track of free agent pick-ups on the message board as we allowed unlimited across our 33 person roster but only 5 new players could be added by each team every season. A chat is not a great way to track this type of information.

The message board is the reason that some of the people in my league play fantasy sports. We are old friends from high school who all moved away, and this is our way of keeping in touch. Without this tool we are moving our league to another site, while our Yahoo league sits idle.

Our league, like most, used the message board as a timely relay of information that didn't require leaving the league homepage environment. Nobody in my league who's expressed an opinion is happy that the message board has been removed. I can't even find Fantasy Chat to use it, and I'm the commissioner. Oh, and what is "UserVoice" and why do I have to be separately logged into that to be able to express the opinion you invited me here to express?

No message board is really bad, why was the tool removed? it was easy, quick and a lot of fun.

There is a chat icon at the bottom right of my team page. It works on laptops. It's not nearly as good as the message board but it is something. The non-dinosaurs of the league were surprised I found it first. So it must be fairly new.
But Yahoo does need to bring back the message boards and let us know someone is reading these.

Please let us fantasy players know if anyone at Yahoo is reading the messages. Most players won't take the time to write. But I know absolutely none that are happy with Yahoo's decision to eliminate the Message Board. It matters. Please try to understand that.

Please bring back the message board. This is the main way that our managers communicated. I am the commissioner of my league. I have players from age 62 to age 34. The Message Board was the easiest way for everyone to communiate. Everyone of all ages understands message boards. Two of my players (who are over the age of 60) don't have fantasy baseball on their smart phones. they do everything on their desktop computers. And I can't find Chat on the desktop computer, I assume chat is only on phones. BRING BACK THE MESSAGE BOARD ASAP PLEASE
