[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Where is Chat?

Removing messaging has really hurt leagues. And, doing it without notifying us at the ouset was painful. Many of our league members started using messaging apps instead (which I'm reluctant to do)...but i also started looking at other fantasy platforms. It looks like dropping messaging wasn't really thought through. The ideas you have now about utilizing chat with threads and polls will work, but that should have been up and running before removing messaging.
Here were the ways we used messages:
First, when people join leagues, you want to see messages posted to ensure its an active (and not fraudulent league). You also want to go back and look at historical messages (league history) to see if there are complaints of collusion posted to the message board.
Second, in our dynasty leagues, we draft via the message board. its the best way to draft b/c everyone can see it and no one posts to those threads except to draft or trade draft picks.
Then I take the picks and compile them into round 1, round 2, round 3. Its been more difficult via chat. But having chat threads may solve that.
Third, we do preseason trades via messages. Right now, we're using chat for that as its a disaster. And people don't know who's been traded where or even the teams that traded thought i was tracking it for them as commish (yeah right)
Fourth, the OTB was by messages, but now people are doing that via email (which is clunky) and chat (which is hard to find since we post so many messages abouts sports, life etc)
Fifth, messages kept our league history (Past drafts, trades, votes on changes to settings) in one nice, easily findable way.
Sixth, if a trade was challeged, the easiest way to make a record of positions for and against was the message board.
Seventh, not everyone wants to read 86 chat messages to find important updates from their commish.
8th, not everyone reads chat.

I'm moving my leagues to ESPN if this isn't changed. In leagues I have run for 10+ years. Count on it.

I'm the commissioner of two leagues. Removing the message boards is a terrible idea. It's where I post all information related to the draft as well as settings changes. You state that we can communicate through chat, but you don't explain how chat even works. Where is the "chat" button from the league home? I'm on a laptop right now and have no idea how to chat to my leagues.

such a poor decision. Why wouldnt you offer something else of value when you removed this?

I have multiple fantasy leagues across three sports that will likely fall apart without the message boards. Not everybody uses the chat feature and many seem reluctant to do so. The commissioners of these leagues are likely just going to go to another platform instead of force their league members to use a product that they don't want to use.

message board is how i as a commissioner communicate to the league. Rule changes, reminders, this is a need. I will consider moving to another platform and you will lose me in football league as well. Both league I have ran 20+ years.... look it up. That has also spidered to other leagues joining. Explain to me why the change? why remove help me understand.

This is a horrible idea. Our league has used the message boards to remember what decisions we made the previous season, as well as for discussing potential changes for the current season. I don't even see chat options on the mobile app.

This decision was poorly thought out. The people making the decision obviously didn't survey any people who actually use the product. Please do some research and bring the message board back.

Bring back message boards, your idea to remove them is an utter failure.
No one in my leagues uses the phone app. it's utterly useless and you are ruining my leagues that have existed for 2 decades.

I love how it says "We welcome your feedback" No you don't I'm sure that no one is even reading these comments other than the people writing here. If you did you would see that the comments have been 100% against this change since the fantasy baseball returned over 30 days ago. How could you look at this much negative feedback with legitimate reasons why message boards are needed and still not bring them back?
The Yahoo Fantasy APP is HORRIBLE, it's hard for even tech-savvy users to navigate it has horrible structure and functionality, and my league is comprised of people in Gen X and prior with sometimes limited tech understanding.
This is the worst idea Yahoo Fantasy Sports has ever decided and you are going to lose literally THOUSANDS of leagues and HUNDREDS of THOUISANDS of individual players.

bring back the message board.....this is the worst decision ever. Why remove it???? This is one of the tools used not just for those that run leagues but the teams that are in it.
Please, please bring it back!
