[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

My league uses the message board threads EXTENSIVELY. Yahoo's announcement says " we will be adding features" such as threading to the chat...WHEN?!? My league used the msg threads to discuss league setup issues such as draft dates and keepers as well as rule changes. We also use it through out the season. We are normally active on the msg board for at least a month BEFORE the season starts. I'm the assistant commissioner in my league and I was looking to get things started this weekend to coincide with the 1st spring training games, but this has really screwed us. WHEN WHEN WHEN will this "new" and "awesome" chat be available? The current chat is not accessible from the website on a laptop, will the new chat be accessible from a desktop/laptop? It needs to be. I don't have time to wait until the beginning of the season. Are we supposed to use a 3rd party app like Discord or Slack in the meantime? That's what I really wanted, having to use 2 different apps/websites to manage my fantasy team and communicate with my league is the DREAM. Even though the msg board was clunky and out dated (long overdue for an update, like 10 years overdue), it was convenient bc it was contained within the app/website. I'm down for an update, but it needed to be ready and fully functional when Yahoo opened fantasy baseball for the season. Give me something I can use NOW, not a "future update". I have no faith in Yahoo to fix this anytime soon, which is unfortunate bc I consider fantasy sports to be the only thing that Yahoo does somewhat well. Prove me wrong, please.

You all are absolute MORONS. You are disconnected from the people using this service. It reminds me of Twiter before the buyout. A bunch of useless people making decisions before they go and get their free coffee and lunch and take their 4 hour lunch and catch a movie and play pinball then come back and clock out. In the meantime they neither know nor care about the impact of their decisions. Well maybe not today but if you all keep making decisions like Twiter did you will also be as unprofitable as they became. The message board is absolutely essential. Bring it back. We are currently using email and Facebook to communicate. The message board is easiest and the most transparent for the league. Bring it back.

This is nosense. i've been playing Yahoo fantasy leagues for 20+ years and I never faced any issues with messages. Through the boards I made friends and keep playing with them for many years. I don't get it why you removed it. Please reconsider.

How do you get on the draft"

It is now very difficult to communicate with other managers. The message board worked great so that all managers would see the messages. Now, email is my only option (no chat, messanger , etc.). Please bring the Message Board back this season!

I would like to provide constructive feedback. The thing that makes fantasy sports fun is the interaction with your fellow league mates. It allows for people to connect over something and provides an avenue to make or reestablish relationships with people we might have lost contact with. By removing the message board and any other chat function from the game you are removing that functionality and forcing people to connect on a separate platform. Once people have stepped out of your webpage for one function why would they not look at what else is out there. It is harder to attract new customers than retain loyal. You are pushing away loyal users by removing a key feature. While my league has not made a decision on switching to a new site the fact we are discussing it as well as the others providing feedback should be all you need to see. Either restore the old feature as you work on an upgrade or just walk away from the add revenue you get from the banner adds and Mars sponsorships. I don't know why a major brand would want to be tie in with a site losing user thus eyeballs.

Why must I sign in to post?? I'm already signed in...
I've become fairly certain they want to do away with free fantasy sports. Before the hockey season, it took them forever to start updating players in camp. And now, if you look at a players info...all that is there is the current year, ALL his career stats are gone. They will just keep taking things away until all the free games are gone, and all that's left are money leagues, DFS, and sports betting -

Nothing will happen until people start leaving yahoo for other sites and when yahoos membership numbers start coming down that’s when the boards will come back!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately

It is simply unbelievable that you are removing the league message board. I just can't believe this could happen. You are taking away the one way for us to communicate with our league members. I have been running leagues here since 2004 and this is just a really bad decision. If I had a good way to communicate with my league members (the email system sucks, most have changed their email address, so there is no possible way to communicate with the league as a whole) we'd probably move the league over to fantrax. I'm hoping that someone at yahoo is reading all these complaints, SO FAR NOT ONE PERSON HAS GIVEN POSITIVE FEEDBACK ON THIS CHANGE. I mean, it is really really really really really bad.

Whats the logic in removing the message board? As a longtime commish, I use the board to ask for input on possible scoring changes, roster position make-up, and other potential changes I'm considering pre-draft. During the season managers use it for discussing trades. I can't even find fantasy chat on my laptop smh. Fantasy chat on my mobile app is useless as its cluttered with player transactions which makes conversation most difficult. dumb dumb dumb

Man what a mistake, the message boards are critical to our league as nobody checks email. This has got to be a joke right?

This has to be the dumbest move you have done. Removing that chat board makes no sense. Most players rely on it cuz nobody reads emails. Why can't you clowns just leave well enough alone?
-
Stefan Gesele commented
Sorry, this doesn't make sense. Message boards are great to discuss several topics in different threads. The chat as of now will make that impossible, as you can't keep things separate. I've been using the board a lot in three leagues and even though you might think chat is more modern, it's not as functional really.

Please bring back the message board at least until the Fantasy Chat is improved. Where is the Fantasy Chat on the regular website? No one is checking the Fantasy Chat through the app.

Andrew below said: "Yahoo keeps changing/taking away features and making the site worse. The only reason we're still here is that every other platform is somehow worse. "
That simply isn't true. We moved to FANTRAX couple weeks ago and it is a hundred times better. Has everything we need and more. Including a threaded Message Board, threaded chat, email that actually works and it all is totally free.
Also customer service that gets back to you ultra fast as well as a couple of free phone numbers you can use to talk to a human live if a problem is too complicated to use a ticket submission. Imagine that. A platform that actually communicates with it's users.
Meanwhile here there is only stone cold silence here as nobody at Yahoo cares about any of our leagues.

One of my several posts on this subject. Is anyone at Yahoo ever going to reply or ever say anything? Please bring our MESSAGE BOARDS back! Commissioner of 15 year league

The most critical piece of losing the message board is the fact that you guys deleted ALL of the past posts from prior years. This is where ALL our league content/stats/history lives. We use the message board every year to document stuff. Losing all of that history without any warning is insane to me! I could have at least moved it all to a document on my computer if you gave us a warning!
Please consider adding this back, even for a limited time so that we can get our league history in order!
Thank you

Without the message board, communication between us and other managers in our league is non-existent. Not many of our managers know how to use the app on the phone or have issues. This "fantasy chat" ONLY is truly delaying the start and set up of my league as most of our communication is done on the message board.
