[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

All the saved messages take up space and maybe Yahoo is running out of space and has to take away data to make space for the newer stuff?

I don't see why yahoo can't keep both. As a commissioner of many leagues I use the message board to post league rules, updates, trades, changes etc.. I have been playing for 20 years and play with guys who don't even have the app. And the rest of my leagues turn the chat off. The message board is critical and necessary. I don't see why you can't update the chat feature while keeping the message board. Just like major league baseball this is yet another pointless change.

20+ year player on Yahoo platforms here.... it's clear we don't care about this for public and winner leagues. Paul R is Paul Right, no one uses them there.
But for Private leagues.... this is dumb. And cowardly.
We use ours regularly in a private 20 team cutthroat league and it's very helpful and provides a great sense of community for our group on top of being useful for messaging about the actual game.
Just stupid. And short-sighted. Why fcuk with something so basic and innocuous, yet so central to the functionality of a league?

I just noticed that when you hover over the chat box icon on the lower right-hand corner of league pages that not only can you send a message but you can also send a file. This can be very useful for commishes to collect lists such as for keepers or protected players or any other communication that could be lengthy.

Looks like 2023 will be the year that most Yahoo private leagues go to die but the removal of message boards will not affect public and winner leagues because nobody posts messages in those leagues anyways.

Save them. Just port them over to Fantrax who actually CARE about baseball fantasy leagues. It is free, has a message board with threads, a better chat app with threads and an email system that actually works as opposed to Yahoo Sports Email that doesn't.
I had a question and easily submitted a ticket to them they answered in less than 2 minutes. They also have 2 free phone numbers so you can talk to a live human being. All is FREE.
Leave a sinking ship and jump to FANTRAX now! Yahoo is in it's death throes.

The message board gets used constantly. Why on earth would you remove it? People rarely use the chat feature and email boxes are already clogged up with countless emails. Bring it back immediately. Please. I am begging. This league has been active for over 15 years. the message board is absolutely crucial. I cant say it enough.

Ah, according to Linkedn ...
jpaine is ...
Jacob Paine
Yahoo Customer Care Associate"This role involves working with our members to resolve trending issues, provide valuable information and relay feedback to our Product and Engineering Teams"
___________________
So, it seems Jacob's sole purpose is to relay information ... but has he?
There are many members of the Yahoo Fantasy Sports Product and Engineering Teams listed on Linkedn, like ...
Mike Graben,
Principal Product Manager
"Senior Engineer turned Product Manager, leading growth revenue and engagement efforts on the Yahoo Fantasy Sports Product Team."_____________________
Anyone down to join me in messaging some of the people who actually work on Yahoo Fantasy Sports to make sure they're aware of how impactful this change is???

I, as the commissioner, and my league have always used the message board and therefore we are very disappointed to see this feature taken from us. The chat is not as functional as the message board. Not for my league anyhow.

LHow could these people so unapologetically **** us over like this ... and add insult to injury with the laziest/half-*** explanation possible ...
I'm somewhat amused by the hypocrisy of providing "feedback" on this message board.
Like others have mentioned, the motive must be to push people away ...
Disgruntled Yahoo employees or ex(?)-employees purposely messing things up ... out of spite
Is this the only recourse we have? The digital equivalent of screaming into a pillow? Is there no other way for us to get this grievance to people at Yahoo, other than jpaine? Can anyone find out if jpaine even still works for Yahoo?
If this change sticks, my leagues (24 years, and 14 years) will die this season.

Please rank as critical to get Yahoo's FULL ATTENTION!!!

It looks as though the chat button on the bottom right of the league page works now if you are on a laptop or home computer as it does not continually spin like before. First time I seen this feature as I do not have a cell phone. I will miss the convenience of also receiving an email when somebody posts a message but I can see a lot of league functions still being possible. It will take time for people to adapt. The total experience will not be the same but I do not see a reason for a mass exodus just yet, although I would not blame commish in offline drafts if they want to explore other sites as this makes it harder on them

I just don't understand it. It was an easy way to keep track of things for your league. The chats are littered with everything from messages to add/drops. Please bring back the board.

No message boards= STUPID!!!!!!!!! Two DECADES PLUS of being here & someone came up with an idea this DUMB!!!! You better not do this during football season. Based on what I've seen so far, I'm not the only one. Who ever came up with this "idea" is someone who probably doesn't even play fantasy sports. Maybe by reading the comments before mine will wake someone up.

What an awful, inconsiderate move by Yahoo. Done without consideration for many of us who have been a part of Yahoo Fantasy for 20+ years. Kindly reconsider this decision and bring it back, pronto! Who came up with this notion anyway? Certainly not someone who is engaged in this activity. But I guess this will fall on deaf ears, since those responsible for this action aren’t likely to read any of this. Too bad… so sad.

adding insult to injury .. Yahoo decided to pull the plug on the message boards before actually informing and polling their customer base otherwise they would have known in less than 24 hours what a truly bad move this is .. whomever made this decision should be fired for incompetence

Even though there is the ability for league managers and players to use the email for the leagues, often times we use the message boards for communication as it's easier for many of us. Not having the message boards is quite inconvenient and unnecessary

Big yikes, Yahoo. Our dynasty league uses the message board for posting league rules, keepers, discussing trades, etc etc. Without it I'm not sure how we'll manage the league going forward. What tech company yanks a critical feature without providing stable backup functionality in its place? Just a really odd move.

We use the board for all communication. Not having a message board is going to be bad. We may consider changing fantasy platforms. This is a terrible decision by Yahoo. What are you thinking?
-
jorge Krentzien commented
In most of our Custom Leagues we use the board for very important notifications or notices.
Paste Overall rules of the league for everyone to see and similar aspects to leave historical information available. (commisioner notes wont suffice),
Chat is not as usefull and without some sort of classificacion... because everything goes to chat, so an important conversation or the Ending of a rule discussion will be lost there for future reference.
