[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Big mistake to take away message boards. Makes my job as commish a lot more difficult.

Message boards have been a critical component to my leagues since the beginning...I still have managers who don't use the chat function due to busy lives, older population etc.
Leave message boards alone! -
Bryan Viggiano commented
I cannot fathom the throught process behind removing the league message board. The history was also being used as a reference.

Leave the message board alone!

This is idiotic. I get that you want more app activity through chat, but message boards were great for announcements, keeper declarations, and all sorts of things where we need a specific thread as opposed to a unstructured chat list. I could not disagree more with this approach.

FU yahoo. You aren't getting access to my phone by forcing us to use your chat in the app. I'm ending my 20 years with yahoo and moving over to fantrax.

Horrible idea! Being able to communicate with the full league is critical to running a good league, and many (most?) will not use anything labeled "chat" on the internet. Horrible idea!
Granted the new player info page is an even worse change - is Yahoo actively trying to kill off their fantasy leagues? If so why not just say it openly and cancel things things instead of killing them slowly?

They may be doing this as a prelude to reducing or eliminating fantasy sports on their platform. There is no logical reason, submits this android, for doing away with such an important function. Note how they have not responded to all the opposition to their actions. Here's hoping they re-instate the boards-

This is A CRITICAL piece to league management and this is a TERRIBLE decision. What is the reason behind this? it's easier to mine our data on fantasy Chat? FU yahoo. Been doing fantasy for TWENTY YEARS with yahoo now looking elsewhere.

How important is this to you? - Are you talking about the importance of keeping message boards or the importance of message board removal? I voted critical but I assume that Yahoo means the importance of keeping them.

Carlos Diaz commented
I can't believe yahoo is eliminating a critical element to manage communications between owners. You might not care Yahoo, but a ton of people will quit playing as a result of this decision you made without asking us first. I have played yahoo fantasy sports for over 10 years and this decision ranks as the most stupid one you made. I am angry.

Stupidest decision Yahoo has ever made, and that's saying something. Message boards are critical for keeper leagues conducting offline drafts on the league message boards. The app is not functional enough at this point to replace the message boards. The app needed to be upgraded first...duhhh. This stupid decision now has leagues grappling for ways to deal with the fallout from all of this. Way to go Yahoo! SMH

What are you people doing? Employees trying to justify their existence by tinkering and making changes that aren't necessary. As commissioner, I used to the League Message Boards to write mock season previews, trade deadline previews and playoff previews. Everyone in league used it to trash talk, rib each other, discuss and vote on trades etc. Who decided to do away with the message boards? Whoever it is, should be fired and then launched into the sun.

We use it to vote on different issues, it is helpful to see other peoples thought on the issues.
What is the reason to do away with it? I guess you just want to make a lot of people mad. From the look of the post on this issue, you succeeded. -
Dan Baumgarten commented
You are taking away message boards and giving us nothing back which we could use for clear communication in our leagues. You are going to lose a LOT of fantasy players if you don't change back to the message boards. They are ESSENTIAL for how we do our keeper fantasy leagues.

Dave Larsen commented
This is ridiculous.
Why lose this functionality? It isn't like it is something that needs support from your development team and shouldn't take that much time managing the message board feature? How about Yahoo adjust the U/I of their fantasy pages instead of losing necessary functionality as it looks like something from 1999.
-
Jennifer Kelly commented
Our league uses the message board for all communications from the beginning of the season through the end. Removing this option is ridiculous and unnecessary.

Can't do an offline draft without it!!!
