Slow speed
I don't mind the new format but I do mind the often slow web speeds of Yahoo.

I can't scroll through my messages as Yahoo Mail is so slow!!!! Please can you do something about this. I have read that it is the advertisements that you show that are slowing it down.

It suddenly takes an hour to type in a 2 line message. Why? I am going to have to cancel my yahoo account. It is not useable for sending e-mails.

I could adapt to the new format but the UI is TOO SLOW.
When I delete a message, it takes nearly 3 SECONDS for the message list to refresh.
When I read a message and delete it, it takes just as slow to return to the message list. Same when filing a message to a folder. -

that i agree with - even an hour after rebooting you get slower loading than google - are big techs like comcast slowing down bandwidth sumhow ?

Your "new technology" GUI is too slow compared to the prior version. I've been a loyal Y!M customer since 1995! I held off as long as I could until you forced me to run on your new "not improved" GUI.
This is the first version that doesn't act like a desktop APP.
Running a fully updated Win 10 on Firefox but getting the same slow screen changes and acknowledgements on Chrome and Edge, Why would you release an upgrade with lower interaction performance?
Additionally, the line spacing is greater causing more vertical movement screen to view the same content. There is also too much wasted space horizontally.
There should be horizontal and vertical adjustment features to bring the compactness of presentation back to a more usable screen presentation. Right now the adjustments are limited.
Please advise on your upgrade plans to address these issues.

Hear! Hear! The fact that the new one is so much slower than any previous version is the single biggest problem. I am very, very disappointed.

I absolutely hate this new format...******* the eyes, horrible colors, when I have an empty folder it starts a talking ad, don't make the ads in the inbox look like an email I can accidentally click on it , do not like the way the contact list comes up, do not like the circles with the big letters in them, can't highlight and drag, have to scroll down to see all my folders, get rid of the unread and starred folders to alleviate all this scrolling, bring back the highlight and drag to move words around the page, bring back the four information lines when I click on reply, slow performance, when printing the emails the text ls too small

I just got force-converted from the older format to the new one, and the response is horrifying slow by comparison. I never thought older Yahoo! Mail versions were particularly fast, but this new format has a huge 1.5 to 3 second (varies) delay with every mouse click. As other users noted, I have to wait for characters to display as I type (else a string of typos will ensue due to my brain assuming I must have made a mistake [when I didn't] because the correct character didn't timely appear due to the asinine delay). And I don't think the new format is an improvement--more change for the sake of change.

I do mind the new format, it is horrible and it is too slow.

Its SLOW! I have to wait for several seconds for the words to appear on the screen after I typed them. The old webmail had no issue with keeping up with my very slow touch typing - maybe 15 words a minute if that. This has been the issue with the new format for months. Its not fixed but I am supposed to just live with infuriatingly slow performance. I will try to revert to the old format as many times as possible.

The "new" mail is RIDICULOUSLY slow. Hangs sometimes, trying to serve ads. Crazy slow. Almost unusable. It takes about 1/2 a second to type a character into the "Search" field, for example.
I'm still on "old" mail for my account, thankfully. But I recently began working with my 80 yr old father's Yahoo mail account, and it is horrific. So slow, plus when I get into long email strings, nearly incomprehensibly convoluted and confusing with regard to following the conversation and responding.
The new mail is an utter abomination. I can't think of one single thing that's "better". It's just mostly worse in most aspects!

Agreed about the agonizingly slow speed. This is a new laptop with an SSD drive, and trying to do something simple like select multiple emails to Move or Delete can take up to 30 seconds to register!

I just switched to the new mail.yahoo.com layout.... it's so slow. I would select a message and hit delete, but only to observe a delay and then the wrong email gets deleted.
the old mail worked faster as of within the last month.
Sorry, but I don't have tips for you on how to make it faster as I'm not a developer.

The slowness is on Yahoo!'s end.
However, Verizon, Yahoo! and Tumblr (Now Destroyed) are among the companies OWNED AND Controlled BY OATH,
OATH seems intent on destroying the functionality of all the companies they own.
Whatever the reason is, it is nearing the time to move all of our business away from all companies controlled by OATH.
