… Such was our discourse that we met again in the library as planned to continue discussing about wish after death, only to be confronted by a library staff before we look for seats because of our perceived “misconduct” according to DLSU-M Administration supervising library personnel. (I was informed when becoming a non-student that this library staff died with ‘stroke’.) Krisnel and I went to the office for student discipline in order to verify our status maintaining innocence as we were only warned. Later on that day, Krisnel began sharing with our fellow ID 105 “blockmates” of first year batch what happened to us. The three men perceived by Krisnel as always accompanying Jan decided to call for a “general meeting of our blockmates” to defend at least Krisnel assuming that I could tolerate such confrontation. What Krisnel and I realized with this meeting held was that some of them also experienced the confrontation given the same reason of an observation from DLSU-M Administration supervising library personnel, arguing that “laughing without disturbing sound is still considered as misconduct”. Some commented during the meeting that to “revere” the library, the clamor of their parents during DLSU-M orientation for first year should not have been “noted” only but “acted” promptly regarding electives that would keep them (my classmates) in the Behavioral Sciences program and not shifting to a Commerce program. According to my mother who attended the orientation, one parent raised the concern of our skills in the Behavioral Sciences program not being competitive in mathematics for commerce and industry given the curriculum with beginning (College) Algebra only leading to Statistics. My mother told me how some parents were suggesting that electives on basic calculus, one of them specifying separate courses on differential and integral, would convince them not to force my Behavioral Sciences classmates shifting to another program and not the demography course being proposed by the faculty member. Krisnel believed that only the two ‘David’ (C. & D.) were decided to shift from Behavioral Sciences program to a Commerce program, that the problem she thought for the rest of us was the DLSU-M Administration being stubborn as it flexed their authority. It was during this time that Krisnel was observed by her friends as writing on a yellow pad a graph that they could not understand, the graph I supposed may be about flooding, earthquake, or housing. What Krisnel only revealed to me before the two graphs she claimed to have shown Prof. Moreno (Physics Department) and Prof. Perez (Math Department) was that she was able to solve Differential Calculus or Organic Chemistry problem almost always beyond 30 minutes (for each problem), convincing her to have LOA (Leave of Absence) with that trimestral term of her last eventually and unfortunately. Some of us stayed with Krisnel in the library during her next visit following the confrontation. I was beside her when she whispered to me how she felt being honored like a beloved person who died. All of us except Krisnel simulated laughing without sound in front of the person who confronted us in order to challenge the warning if needed. In case of being confronted again, one of us prepared to show ‘online of nonresponse by DLSU-M Administration’ to the clamor of own parent for specific electives on curriculum. The library staff who confronted us appeared to have called two of fellow library personnel, but I heard that they would not call the attention of DLSU-M Administration for the laughing we simulated. What Krisnel liked about ID 105 “blockmates” of first year batch was her observation that at least the majority of us is for ‘content’ and not ‘image’, for the capabilities without overemphasizing academic honors, that ‘Personal Effectiveness’ program by DLSU-M Administration for future students would be criticized by our “blockmates” in private conversations….
