Outside US payment for Mail Plus
Hi,
User Account: hi_manyam@yahoo.com
Name: Subrahmanyam Thuraga
You can call me on +971543271349.
I am an Indian based in UAE. I have been trying for a long time (over 6 months now) to subscribe. In fact from many years, right in the days you has Yahoo Ads-free Annual Subscription. I have been trying using my INR credit cards from India or AED/DHS credit cards from Dubai. But your Yahoo Mail Plus sign-up system specifically looks for a US based card and perhaps matching US address.
But your documentation does not say this is limited to US users. This is confusing and conflicting info. Yahoo is a global organization since decades. You were there even before the likes of Google were born. How can you think so small and say we want only US residents?
I got on call with your US Tech Support on +1 (800) 745 0739 who insist they only cover "US", and also clarified there is no such country-specific-support for other countries. This basically means for paid subscriptions and actually money generating business, you only want US residents! I got confirmation from your rep that there are no paying customers from 1.3 billion Indians and many rich countries from middle east (not necessarily no one there had a need to take your subscription or have money to pay it, but purely because you closed yourself into a cocoon that is US!). With all due respect, that is quite a shame for Yahoo, the founding father of the internet based work culture. All the newer kids like google mastered this game but Yahoo still chose to remain in stone age? Having a 25 year association with Yahoo right from my college days, it breaks my hrart to such complacency and unprofessionalism. Here I standing with money on table for months and you guys have no means to take it. The final recommendation your rep gave me was, the "only" solution he sees is, to delete some 50,000+ mails of 20 years carefully, skipping the ones where I have my purchase confirmations for a license I bought in 2012 etc, and delete more than half of my mails, and continue as a free user.
I have no words further.
With regards, ~ Subrahmanyam Thuraga
