The original account that I used to open up my Yahoo account has long since disappeared, the company no longer exists. I cannot remove that old, non existent email account from my recovery email list because "was used to open your account". Yahoo email is my account, you are really the only one I use. I can recover from gmail and from iCloud. But I direct all email to Yahoo. The old account remains a security risk, since someone could reopen that domain and create an email in that domain that matches the email name you have on file. Its a security loophole that needs to be remediated.
