New Yahoo Mail displays incorrect sender name; Classic Mail displays correct name
I am using a long‑standing Yahoo Mail account. When I send email using Classic Yahoo Mail, the sender name is correct. When I switch to New Yahoo Mail, the sender name appears incorrect only within my own Yahoo Mail interface.
The incorrect sender name does not appear to recipients. People who receive emails I send from New Yahoo Mail see the correct sender name; the issue is visible only to me when viewing sent messages or message headers within my own Yahoo account.
This issue is fully reproducible and specific to the New Yahoo Mail interface. Switching back to Classic Mail immediately resolves the issue. Editing the sender name under Settings → More Settings → Mailboxes → “Your name” in New Yahoo Mail does not permanently resolve the problem, as the incorrect name reappears when using the New interface.
This appears to be a New Yahoo Mail UI display issue or legacy account metadata mismatch, where the sender name is rendered incorrectly for the account owner only, despite being transmitted correctly to recipients.
Steps to reproduce:
-Send an email using Classic Yahoo Mail → sender name displays correctly.
-Switch to New Yahoo Mail.
-View a sent email or message header → sender name displays incorrectly for the account owner.
-Recipient confirms the sender name appears correct on their end.
-Switch back to Classic Mail → sender name displays correctly again.
Expected result:
Sender name should display correctly and consistently in both Classic and New Yahoo Mail for the account owner.
Actual result:
New Yahoo Mail shows an incorrect sender name only to the account owner; recipients see the correct sender name.
