This idea really doesn't solve the problem.
Let's say that an 8-team league has these scores during a week:
222, 220, 206, 203, 203, 203, 121, 118
You have 6 teams with a top half of the league score.
Which 4 teams were the top 4?
Do you give the 4th-5th-6th place teams a tie?
A better (more fair) fix would be to have every team play every team every week.
In that scenario, having three teams tie would be no problem.
In that scenario, the highest scoring team come out better than the second highest scoring team every time.An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
I've seen this suggested by several different players.
Hopefully, it has been put up here enough times for it to be noticed. -

Some times, pass interference is the best that a D-Back can do.
In real NFL life, coaches and QBs take note of the penalty and throw the ball at that receiver again, hoping for another penalty.
Those penalties keep drives alive.
So, yes, the receiver should receive a Fantasy Football reward.
However, "half the yardage that the pass would have gone" is a difficult stat to find.
So, a standard number of points (2 points?) would be the easiest way to administer this stat.Anonymous supported this idea ·

This situation may call for two equations: 1/ Points for distance of the punt (the longer the better) 2/ For punts fielded inside the 20 yard line, points for closeness to the goal line (the closer to the goal line the better). These two equations should reflect good football strategy well enough.
I think Chris is correct that a punt that results in a touchback should be scored as though it was fielded at the 20.
I'd just as soon ignore the length of the return for punter statistics. It can be scored by giving the other team points for return yardage.
The remaining problem is how to score a blocked punt.An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
Seriously, just have the Commish of your league put in a bonus for each pass completion. That way, a QB who completes 19 passes scores almost as much as a QB who completes 20 passes, and a QB who completes 21 passes scores a little more, and ...
It's so much more fair that way.An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
And, of course, we need a bonus for more than 15 rush attempts & a bonus for more than 3 sacks by a D player & a bonus for kicking more than 3 FGs in a game & a bonus for returning more than 3 punts in a game & a bonus for more than 3 passes defended & and a bonus for more than 8 tackles & and a bonus for the first player in the game to make a first down & and a bonus for the player who makes the first tackle & and a bonus for each kick-off which goes through the end zone & and a bonus for suggesting a new medal category & and a bonus for ...

Being able to change roster positions
is just one of the many things that a
commish can change during the season
which Yahoo should NOT allow. -

Yeah, it sucks when you have the fifth-highest points scored without being in the top eight teams. It's probably a scheduling problem.
