[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Not having a message board, at least for private leagues, is 100% terrible. Please add these back. With this latest strike, really good chance this is our leagues last season after being here for the previous 16. What an idiotic move by Yahoo.

There is now currently no way to have conversations separated by topic so you can have multiple organized threads/conversations going at once. Chat is not a good replacement for the message board at all. This is an absolutely terrible mistake taking this functionality out. I don't see anyone responding positively to this decision to remove message boards. Please put message boards back in until Yahoo figures out a solution.

We used message boards for the last 20 years to communicate during the season. We have tried chat. The league doesn't like it. We will still play yahoo this year if for only it will be too difficult to switch platforms a week before the draft. Next year we will look to leave Yahoo if this isn't fixed.

We were told numerous time by Yahoo that the chat function would replace the message board by adding threads and becoming usable (unlike the unusable one we have now). I have yet to see any of these changes implemented. I was notified by Yahoo where we can access the chat on the site, but I still have yet to find the League-wide chat feature in several of my leagues. We can't have a league-wide chat via email because we can't "reply all" on the emails to allow the discussion to progress naturally (it will be fragmented going through the league's email function).
IMPLEMENT CHAT FEATURES IMMEDIATELY OR RETURN THE MESSAGE BOARDS IMMEDIATELY.
Yahoo was clearly not ready to elevate the chat into functioning as a replacement message board. The MINIMUM changes to the FantasyChat to replace message boards:
1) Embed the chat on the league page (not a popup).
2) Enlarge the chat to be 6 times larger on screen.
3) Add threads so each subject can be discussed separately.
4) Remove the transaction log from the chat entirely (it already exists in its own log).
5) Add Rich Text editor (or equivalent).
6) Timestamp all posts.
7) Archive each season's chat on the league page.
8) Add and option for email alerts to new chats.I've had several drafts already occur where I could not chat during the draft and after the draft I cannot find a way to chat with others in the league. We are getting close to the season and many of these functions that were promised by Yahoo back in Feb. (when they announced no message boards this year) have yet to be added. I don't think Yahoo's FantasyChat is even remotely ready to replace message boards and I have no idea why they think they would be (I don't see the rest of the internet, including this page and reddit, replacing message boards with a chatbox).

I don not like "chat" and message boards were a quick tool to communicate with other league members if needed or wanted. This has just forced me to add a feature I was not interested in. Bring back the league message boards.

BRING THE MESSAGE BOARDS BACK!
PLEASE!
NOW, BEFORE THE SEASON BEGINS!
Baseball season has not yet started and already not having the message board has significantly curtailed communication in my league. Yes, I can and have posted my messages to my managers on the Commish Notes -- but they cannot reply to my messages, ask questions on league rules, keepers, and so forth. Nor can my managers communicate easily with each other as they are planning for the draft, planning early-season trades, etc.
Yahoo's note that we can do these thing using Yahoo Fantasy Chat -- but despite almost 20 years of Commish experience, I cannot find the link to OPEN Yahoo Fantasy Chat. At least, I cannot find the link on my computer, where I do 98% of my Fantasy Commish work. Yes, I have Yahoo Fantasy installed on my phone, but it is too cumbersome to post league rule changes and other details.
And if someone asks me a question or offers a suggestion using Yahoo Fantasy Chat, there is no way I have found to receive notifications that a new message has been posted.

Might be best to reply to Yahoo by clicking "Post a new idea" and let them know to bring back the message board. As I am not sure they are truly seeing our messages below. Very terrible on their part.

As heavily requested by all the posts.

Just took part in a Live Draft. After the draft, all of the draft picks appeared in the League Chat Box. It now takes forever to go back and find real chat messages. I contacted Yahoo Fantasy Support via Reddit. I was told that an individual can "hide" draft picks during the Draft, but it is not a league function. And if you hide draft picks, my guess is that you can't see who picked whom during the Live Draft. So I guess you can tell all the owners to be blind as to who picked whom - or you can turn your League Chat Box (the "moving forward" method of league Communication) into trash.
I had a 40-year IT career, and I have seen dozens of poorly executed system changes in terms of analysis, rollout, and customer communication/support. This Message Board removal easily ranks in the Top 5.

Without the Message Boards there's no good communication tool available! We should have been given a choice of boards or other. Anyway, thanks for nothing! For what it's worth you guys should check out Fantrax as they offer a superior game and why most of us are going there and leaving here. Our group stays here as we started here in 2006!

does anyone else think it strange that there has been ZERO response by any Yahoo rep? no explanation .. no indication that anyone is even paying attention to this thread .. probably embarrassed by the negative responses and their own stupidity

Dumbest move ever by yahoo. We are a group of friends who have been doing this for 20 years. On top of being able to communicate with each other about trades, wants it was fun busting each others balls. Why Yahoo felt the need to get rid of this feature is beyond me and you should bring it back ASAP. Also being commissioner it was easier for me to relay messages to the guys and not everyone reads their emails regularly. BRING IT BACK ASAP!!!!!!!

As a fantasy network we did a lot of things with the message board as far as announcements, instructions, etc. People log in daily to set teams in most sports and see the board. Most never check your chat and people have bogus emails they use to host their teams so they never get them. It has made it very difficult to run our leagues without the board.

Bring back the message board since it is the best way to communicate, discuss and get feed backs from all league managers. The replacement must provide similar utilities.
