[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Bring back the message board. It is by far the best form of communication as messages can be easily accessed for future reference. We rely on it for questions, suggestions, and to resolve controversies. Our three leagues (i.e., football, baseball, and basketball) have been on Yahoo since 1999 but we are now contemplating moving to a different forum. Please don't make us make this move. Leagues are already complicated enough to administer. The removal of the message board adds another layer of difficulty.

What a terrible idea leave it as it was.

Another issue that I'm now seeing. In the Fantasy Chat, it looks and feels EXACTLY like the hated phone group texts.
You might be talking about one important topic, and another manager might bring up a totally different topic. So responses to both topics might be all over the place from a bunch of other managers.
Meanwhile, a message board allows clear organization of said topics with their own threads.
Additionally, as a commissioner, I used to refer back to previous seasons' message boards for previous notes, comments, polls, etc. How am I exactly supposed to do that in the previous seasons' chats? By scrolling through tons of messages??

I'll say this:
The message board is such a big deal to me - and I have played every year Yahoo has had fantasy sports and been commissioner of many leagues - that I will QUIT playing on Yahoo after baseball. Period. Probably dump my Yahoo email too.....I'd really want nothing to do with Yahoo.
Yahoo's already **** customer support just got a dagger for me. Yahoo is dead because of this. Last straw for me.
Unbelievably stupid decision Yahoo. Mind numbing. 😑

You can't see commissioners notes from the phone app and it is not a good place for 2 way talking.
Chatting sounds like a good way for ENDLESS arguing to take place - just like threading(have you looked in on the player chats?). Besides, I don't stay on yahoo fantasy full time - so, how can CHAT honestly work?Message Board Posting was the ideal way to communicate with one or all of the managers. It's mostly the same thing as texting on a cell phone. Very functional and popular.
Folks don't look at or answer their email so good either - bad idea.
My managers login and answer row-call each year via message board post , plus other important issues. Email just doesn't get responses. As commish I can see good uses for chat but I would not trade it for message board.
Thanks for involving us but, you brought us in AFTER NOT BEFORE you deleted the message board. I thought we were the users...

I was really disappointed to see this feature removed before you have the improved Chat in place League message boards are not only really convenient to discuss settings changes and trade offers, but they also foster community and fun! So what you've achieved here is a net negative in terms of how me and my friends enjoy Yahoo fantasy. Please bring it back, along with the polling feature that you removed a few years ago.

Massive L getting rid of the message boards before there was an alternative.

So what you've achieved here is a net negative in terms of how me and my friends enjoy Yahoo fantasy. We all discussed actually leaving Yahoo over this. We have decided to stay for this season but we will reassess next year. In the interim, we've started a Facebook group to accommodate our communication needs, which means our eyeballs leave the Yahoo platform to spend time elsewhere. Doesn't seem like smart business to alienate your customers like this. You guys run a great service, that's why this decision feels like a gut punch to us who have been loyal customers for years. We hope you bring the feature back soon.

If you're going to insist on the idiocy of removing the message boards at least make Messenger work correctly. League messengers keep
disappearing making it impossible to properly communicate with players -

I just noticed that nobody in my leagues I run can post messages to the league and the orange highlight saying Yahoo removed this. Removing the League message Post board is a terrible idea and ruins the way people document things. Emails get lost, chats get lost. We've had our league going since 2000 or before and everyone loves being able to track the histories. Yahoo please reconsider this. You will lose participation.

Agree with Ryan below. Great detailed post from Andrew (03/14/23 at 1:16 AM).
Also, I'd like to point out the irony...
we are posting comments/complaints...
on a MESSAGE BOARD.

Thanks to everyone for speaking out! So many great points!
Great post from Andrew Acs on 3/14/23 at 1:16am.--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Post on this thread too ^^^
Let's push multiple threads about this to the Top 10.
The title of this thread is merely "Removal Feedback"
Getting the title of the thread linked above ("Bring Back Message Boards") into the Top 10 sends a stronger message that Yahoo has intentionally screwed over its users

The removal of Message Boards is easily the most ridiculous change Yahoo has done in a long time.
I'll be honest. While I like using the Fantasy Chat, a lot of the older members across Yahoo do not or have never used it. As a Commissioner, I can say that you've made things MORE difficult. Usually, the idea is to move forward and progress. Removing the message board clearly is a step backwards.

We need message boards. I use desktop for all my leagues and I can't even find the dang chat function. I play these leagues with a group of friends and luckily we have a basketball league with a message board so we're using that to keep track of the baseball league. But obviously that isn't sustainable so this will probably be our last league here. Feels like the end of an era and it sucks.

This is the dumbest thing Yahoo has done and they keep doing dumber things!
The message board was great to keep track of everything. Nobody uses the chat and if they did why can both be used!!!
Fantasy Chat is only on mobile and not on desktop. Message board was the easiest way for league members to always see league news, rules and updates!!
Shame on yahoo for not even asking its users input and such a decision!

Whoever decided to remove the message boards should be immediately fired. The message board was an easy way of keeping track of everything in the league in one place. Fantasy chat is awful to read through and hardly used by anyone in any leagues I've been in.

I don't see any way to utilize chat on desktop, so anyone that does not have the ap or a smartphone (or the ability to utilize it) is immediately excluded. This is ageist. Additionally, all roster moves are automatically posted on chat. So if you do want to utilize chat, good luck maintaining a thread when waivers are run. Horrible move.

Unbelievable. We used this exclusively to post all of our pre draft information and rules for the league.

Vital tool taken away without any input!!! We used it to communicate league updates, keepers, trade offers and more. Plus the occasional trash talk. Bring it back.
