[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

This is a terrible blow for us who use the message boards for league wide decisions, year-to-year record keeping, and announcing keeper/prospect considerations in trades.
We also use the message boards for drafting.
The commissioner notes for us are good for League Constitutions, but regular owners can't use them.
Chat is fine for small talk, but that's not record keeping. We will be forced to use a non-Yahoo tool, which is really clunky.
Bad change. Needless.

I agree with pretty much everyone else here, the message board is a well used and valuable tool for many leagues. It's an easy way to track and share individual league rules and information with everybody at once. It's especially helpful if you're playing with people you don't know, or are in a league with unique rules or use offline drafts and such as it allows players to do so virtually without having to schedule a meeting time that works for everybody in the league.

Horrible decision. Not everyone in my leagues uses chat. Believe it or not, some people still dont have a smart phone and your chat app sucks. Email communication is way too cumbersome to keep track of league messages, rules changes, etc.

i dont know everybody in my league and some have hidden emails. being able to just share a message with the whole group on the main page is much better than constantly looking at your phone. And since the app is much worse than the web browser I dont use my phone to play, making chat even less important

This is a massive step backwards. Message boards are essential & way easier for slow drafts, league-wide discussions, and basically anything else that requires more than a single message.

This is a step backwards.

all of our league rules, posts, pre season trades, and fa adds and keepers in pre season are posted within the message boards. It is a good way for us to refer to league rules and communicate with each other about trades, raids rule s and more. Without the use of the message boards, I think we will need to leave yahoo after having leagues here for 30 years plus

You are going to lose a lot of players if you do this!

I responded in detail in a prior comment - listing out what I consider the User Requirements for an enhanced Fantasy Chat. But I want to emphasize one point. My experience tells me that the value of Message Boards is about 70% from Registration Open until the end of the league's draft (whether that is live or "offline"). There is about another 20% value-add from draft completion date until Opening Day. Only about 10% of the Message Board value is in-season. The wording at the top of this feedback is "to help us make future improvements". Unless the target date for those future improvements is about March 1, 2023, any change you makes is relatively useless for 2023. I don't know your architecture, but I spent 25 years in IT, and to me that March 1 deadline seems daunting. Hopefully you have some engineering heroes who can drop everything they are doing and get this done. But if you can't make March 1, I think the only responsible action is to reinstate the Message Boards for 2023 - so that you can do a professional unrushed job of replacing their functionality for 2024 and beyond. This is espectially true since I bet you are going to make the same changes for Fantasy Football.

Just started a FanTrax account. Looks like it's free to use and has a message board - also has multi-team trades and better dynasty management options. Just emailed the rest of my 20+ year Yahoo league to the do the same.
Thanks for making this change, Yahoo. Without it I never would have looked around for better options! :)

Terrible decision. I have been the commish for basketball/football 10 years now. Been doing baseball on Yahoo last 3 years. It makes no sense to get rid of it. I posted my Keeper Rules in there and it was a simple click to view the rules. Now I have to put it in my chat. When fantasy baseball starts up, we will have to go back into the chat to view it. But scrolling up all the way to go and find it. It is too much. Really hope those other fantasy groups aren't going to be like this next year.

Playing yahoo fantasy baseball/football since the early 2000s. Your fantasy community is what makes yahoo, not your email or news. HORRIBLE decision to end message board. Bring back or I’m out after 20 years. Your app sucks, NO one likes chat in the form it is now.
Yahoo - your making a critical mistake - read, listen, make the change back or you stand to lose a lot of $

To me, the message boards are a double-edged sword, and I think what I'm going to say applies for baseball and football. in my private leagues, where I know most of the people playing but don't necessarily see them regularly during the season, message boards are a big plus. We use them for everything from general league announcements to voting on rule changes, and those things would be much clumsier via email. For private leagues, I really want them to stay. In my public leagues, the message boards aren't particularly valuable and are sometimes a nuisance. In public leagues, they're used more by people who want to have arguments or want to organize collusive voting against trades - something that should never happen because there should never be voting on trades. So in those settings, I'd sort of rather the message boards just went away but I don't care that much either way. This probably doesn't help you very much, but that's my take.

Keep the League Message Boards. This is America land of free speech is it not? If someone is offended by a post all they have to do is ignore it and move on, simple as that!!!

chat boards are necessary please keep them

It's very disappointing to her that message boards are being phased out. That's all I used and don't use the mobile app to "chat". We'll likely be looking to move our league to another site next year. I would hope that Yahoo is monitoring the feedback and reaction to this decision and weighing if this was really the best choice.

I won't repeat what everyone else has said because they are all universally against getting rid of the message boards. I am highly disappointed and this was the final straw to push me to move several leagues to CBS Sports. I'm not sure why Yahoo chose to do this, but I hope the reason was worth what it's going to cause. Mass exodus.
