Starting playoffs 2 weeks earlier
I’d like to submit a formal suggestion regarding the default playoff schedule for Yahoo Fantasy Baseball paid public leagues.
I strongly recommend moving the default fantasy baseball playoffs approximately two weeks earlier in the MLB season.
The current schedule places fantasy playoffs extremely late in the regular season, when MLB teams begin changing how they manage their players. This can create a significant amount of unpredictability during the most important weeks of the fantasy season.
By that point in the year, fantasy managers can be dealing with things such as:
- Position players receiving additional rest
- Starting pitchers having their workloads limited
- Changes to starting rotations
- Bullpen role changes
- Teams evaluating prospects
- Players being rested because their real-life team has already secured a postseason position
- Teams managing injuries more cautiously
These factors can have an especially large impact on head-to-head leagues, where a single week determines whether a manager advances or wins a championship.
I believe moving the default public-league playoffs at least two weeks earlier would allow the fantasy postseason to take place during a more consistent portion of the MLB schedule, while still allowing private leagues and commissioners to use the existing schedule if they prefer it.
I hope Yahoo Fantasy will consider this change for future seasons. As I’m sure, most people would agree with.
Thank you for taking the time to review my feedback.
