Like all of the other narcissistic developers and providers, Yahoo thinks it is doing a better job. It is not. If your managers, workers and program writers need to prove their usefulness and a reason to keep their jobs, find something else to work on. EVERY TIME Yahoo thinks it has made an improvement it has FAILED, BADLY, but is to narcissistic to realize that this is true. Get off of your high horses people and get down where the common people are and see what they like and do not like. SHOCKING as it may be to your self image, most of your extras are not needed, and are USELESS to many people.

I have for several months completely resisted the annoying blue box at bottom left of my e-mail, inviting me to switch to the new layout. As far as I'm concerned, the phrase 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' applies very well here, and I was perfectly comfortable with it as it was. I've always found with anything like this that the initial stages of any change to a tried and trusted format is fraught with pitfalls and idiot traps, and slows you down in the effort to figure out what you did wrong, and how to put it right.
One day, I accidentally clicked on the blue box, and I saw the new format. I took an instant dislike to it, and somehow - I have no idea how - I managed to revert to the original format. But despite sending an annoyed message demanding that the blue box be removed from my screen immediately, it has steadfastly remained there, from time to time doing an irritating little shake, while I have my e-mail standing by as I'm trying to read a magazine.
I frequently have to restart my computer if it's left unused for too long, to get it to speed up. Today, when I switched it off and restarted it, I found to my extreme annoyance that the new Yahoo mail format had installed itself, for no reason to do with anything I had done. I have tried and tried for half the day to get it to return to classic mail, but even after trying to follow the instructions given on your Yahoo Help Central page, I cannot get it to revert to the format I was perfectly happy with until today.
The effect of this change has been to plague my e-mail with extremely annoying and distracting fast-moving adverts on the huge panel on the right of the screen, and a completely immobile line advert at the top of the messages list. Previously, these adverts could be blotted out by going to the add-ons feature. It used to stop them completely, but more recently, I have had to keep removing the right-hand panel myself by clicking on the tiny arrow on the left edge of the panel. Once that had gone, only then would the line advert at the top of the messages list finally switch off. And they wouldn't return for the rest of my session.
Additionally, today I have found that all my other windows and tabs are extremely slow and sluggish, and keep doing stupid and unexpected things, and any attempt to scroll up or down gets met with constant non-cooperation and 'not responding' messages. I have found that the only way around it is to switch off and restart, which I have done at least 8 or 10 times today - on one occasion, twice in succession, with no improvement after the first restart. But with the new mail, it seems to be that Yahoo is hellbent on forcing you to accept that those ads are there for good - unless you are prepared to respond to the regularly-appearing box asking if you want to go ad-free - and PAY £2.69 (from memory) a month for the privilege of not having this utter junk continually waving in your face. If you click on the tiny arrow at the left edge of the big panel on the right, no sooner has the ad gone than it is back again, and you just waste hours trying to get a screen that isn't screaming at you visually to watch the ads instead of doing anything productive. I have not managed to get a single message looked at, or sent out this entire day.
This is an absolutely appalling and blatantly cynical attempt by an already extremely rich company to suck as much cash out of people as possible. Our lives are blighted enough by advertising already, everywhere you look, everything you listen to, every single thing that can possibly be co-opted for the purpose of hoovering up vast quantities of cash is being used. And I, for one, am utterly sick of it. Can I not please have just one relatively quiet space in my world, a space in which I can focus my attention on what I'm trying to do, without it showing up as yet another impoverishing debit on my meagre monthly bank statement? (I am on pension credit, and that is all I have, with very little leeway for unnecessary expenses beyond my day-to-day needs).
PLEASE give me back the e-mail screen I am used to, and over which I had at least a modicum of control and choice. -

Please switch me back to my classic email. I do not like new design. I was trying to switched back at settings, but you did something to prevent it. Very disappointing.

With the old mail, I didn't have to scroll to see all my folders. I'm not sure why I need the 'views' tab. I don't like that it's bumped my folders down and that I can't delete it or move it down. This is hardly the advertised 'more customizable' mail.
