Mac Mail fails to connect to Yahoo! IMAP
Since May 9 2020 Mac Mail's Connection Doctor displays the following error message:
Yahoo! IMAP
Could not connect to this Yahoo! IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use SSL” checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account preferences.
I have correct both imap and smtp settings, I tried to delete and re-add the account to no avail.
I used the app generated password. However the whole "app generated password" conception is not consistent. It's weirdly unreliable and hardly conceivable. Consider this: I generated a password for iPhone Mail but it failed to connect too. I was able to log in only with my general password, so what's the point of the app generated pass with its feet awkwardly apart?
To add more confusion, smtp server is able to connect to MacMail using the general password. When I'm using the app generated one it's not.
Fix this mess, please, and provide easy to understand instructions as to how to make synching between 3rd party clients and Yahoo Mail work.
