Do not add contacts w/o consent
Years ago I cleaned out my contacts and ceased adding any because of fallout from bots getting into my contact list and sending spam out under my name. I ran afoul of one of these bots yesterday and found that there was a spam e-mail being sent because, unbeknownst to me, Yahoo had been adding contacts to my list. I did not ask that this be done and certainly did not consent to it. If I want a contact added, I will add it. Some of those added, fortunately, were one-off, temp addresses (such a Craig's list responses, which I would have never wanted to add even if I was using the contact list), but many were valid. Now I have to explain to those people why they got a junk/spam e-mail from me. Which is exactly why I was not using the contact list. At a minimum, Yahoo should never add a contact to my list without a positive response to a pop-up dialog. Ideally there should be a setting to allow a user to either allow adding unconditionally, allow adding with consent, or disallow adding completely. If there is currently such a setting, I cannot find it and would appreciate being told where it is. To add insult to injury, when I went to my contact list to delete all the entries I found there was no way to do a bulk delete - I had to select each contact and delete individually. That would be the next improvement suggestion.
